BLACK WIDOW
CHAPTER NINETEEN

I'd just finished an early weights session at the PC when Beth and Adam came in, nodding at on me on the way. Adam kept going but Beth stopped, backtracked and made her way towards me.
I pushed my headphones off, and listened.
"How's this going, Riley? How's NXT?" She asked, standing and looking down at me.
"Good. Really good." I stand up and face her properly. "I'm loving it, and I think I'm doing a great job with everything."
She softly nodded and cleared her throat. "You're doing good things, I actually wanted to just let you know last night..." she shook her head gently. "All the blood, is not ok."
What?
I force a small laugh out. "What do you mean? It's not like I made myself bleed."
She tilted her head. "There's a thing called overselling. To an extreme where you hurt yourself." She kept explaining. "You've injured yourself when you didn't need to."
Was she really saying this right now?
"Beth..." I didn't know how to go about it. "I'm sorry, but, respectfully. It was an accident, I didn't mean to cut myself. I was doing my job, mistakes happen."
Beth was stern as she spoke. "Doing your job isn't putting yourself at risk. It's dangerous, it can be career threatening and cost you." She shrugged a little. "It's like with what's happened to Rhea. If she wasn't so extreme with her selling, she wouldn't have missed so long of her-"
"Beth." I didn't want to hear her talk about Rhea. About this. "I disagree." I took a calming breath. "The reason I got cut last night, the reason Rhea got injured was by accident. Just a freak accident. We don't sell dangerously, 99.999% of the time we sell perfectly. Rhea sells perfectly." Emphasising her name. "We didn't ask for it. Selling is part of this job, we know what we're doing."
Beth was silent, looking at me with some slight discomfort on her face. Maybe some annoyance. But also some hesitation. She sniffed and wiped her jaw. "If you know what you're doing, you can explain to Shaun soon why you punched Jaida during practice." And she turned away, walking off.
What?
Shaun knows...
Did Jaida tell him?
What the fuck...
I sat back down on the bench, looking down at my feet. My phone on the ground, I just stared at it, my mind racing with thoughts about;
What did she tell him?
Am I going to be punished?
Why did she decide to tell him?
Am I going to lose my job?
Did Connor do something?
Fuck.
My phone brightened up with a motivation that made my stomach roll. From a news site on 'X'
