Skyler sat in a tree in the courtyard during a free period, reading a book from her godfather's office—which he let her borrow, not that he knew.

When two girls emerged from a swirling golden light, still grappling with each other.

"Let go of me!" The one with blue hair said, wrenching free from the other's grasp.

Both girls stumbled and, as they righted themselves, looked at the empty courtyard around them.

"Um..." Chloe started. "What just happened? Where'd everybody go?"

"Whoa. It works," Red said, looking at the pocketwatch in her hands.

"What works? Where are we?" Chloe asked.

"Not where. When," Red said.

Skyler squinted in puzzlement. She must have misunderstood the girl.

A voice from across the courtyard drew their attention to a young Fairy Godmother sitting on a bench under a tree. At least, she looked a bit like Fairy Godmother...

"Bibbidi... bobbidi..." Fay said, far less confident in her words than the older version of her had been moments earlier ... in the future. "Boo!"

Magic shot out of her wand and hit the schoolbook in Fay's lap. The book flew away from her and bounced farther into the courtyard, under Skyler's tree.

Skyler jumped down from her tree, picking up the book as she landed.

"No!" Fay said. "I wanted to speed-read, not for my reading to speed off!" She grabbed her runaway book from Skyler, stopping in front of Red and Chloe when she noticed them standing there.

"Hi! Excuse me!" Chloe said. "Um... where'd everybody go?"

"Every ..... who?" Fay asked.

"All the royal families of Auradon. They were just here."

"What's Auradon?" Skyler asked, folding her arms and raising a brow. But before Chloe could respond -though how did you answer a question like that?

Fay's book leapt out of her arms once more. "I gotta go catch my homework. Thanks, Sky!"

She hurried away, leaving Chloe deeply confused, to turn to Red and Skyler.

"Okay, I know everyone in this school, and you both are unfamiliar. Who are you?" she asked.

"Umm.." Both girls trailed off, looking at each other, unsure what to say. "I'm Red, and she's Chloe."

"You both have an aura of chronomancy. Care to explain?"

She just stared at them while they looked back.
Red dared not look away from the girl while Chloe fidgeted under her stare.

Raising a brow at Chloe, she zeroed in on her.
