When she arrived, she opened the door, said a quiet "Thank you," and then got out of the car. Unexpectedly, the driver also left. Much to Megi's surprise, it turned out to be Ren. He looked into the girl's eyes, red from crying, and felt that he didn't want to be separated from her.
"Don't forget about me" He stretched out his arms towards her and hugged her tenderly.
"It'll be hard to forget..." The girl muttered. She reluctantly released herself from the man's embrace, bowed goodbye and entered the hotel. She said hello to the owner and went to the room. All her things were in their place. She took a few things out of the closet and went to change. She looked through her notebook in silence, packed a few things into her bag and went out into the city. There was no trace of Ren anywhere. She headed towards the subway, bought a ticket and got on the train. This time she went to see the Tori gates that stretched around a large mountain. Megi admired the views, but her thoughts were elsewhere. After some time, she sat down to eat something.
"It's temporary... I'll forget it after some time" She explained to herself, but she didn't seem convinced. The girl walked around the neighborhood and when it started to get late, she headed towards the station. On the way back, she stopped to eat something warm and bought a few things in the shop next to the hotel. Returning to the room, she went straight to the bathroom, ran some water and submerged herself up to the tip of her nose.
She sat there lost in thought when she suddenly raised her head from the water.
"Enough of this! Tomorrow is my last day here and then I'm going home! What was in the past is gone now. I don't regret anything.."
She got out of the bath, changed into her sleeping clothes, and then lay down on the futon. She managed to fall asleep quite quickly and the night passed without any problems.
The next morning, when the girl woke up, she looked completely different. She got up energetically, cleaned herself up in the bathroom, took a few things into her backpack and went out into town, satisfied. That evening, there was to be a fireworks show near the hotel. After eating breakfast, Megi immediately went to her destination. It was still early, but some people were already setting up their stands, putting various things on them. The girl sat on the side and watched the whole commotion. She noticed that at one of the stalls an older man was trying to stack some boxes that looked too much for him. Without a second thought, Megi moved towards him and offered her help. The man was very surprised, but accepted her help. Together, stacking the boxes went much more smoothly. It turned out that the man was preparing warm snacks that he had to prepare in advance. So they took out all the ingredients and utensils needed to prepare food. Megi stood to the side, watching as the man deftly mixed the dough and formed small balls. After preparing a large amount, the girl helped him clean up the stand. The Japanese was very grateful to her and after exchanging a few bows, Megi went to look at the other stalls.
Around noon, the girl went to a restaurant to order dinner. When she finished, she ordered another piece of cake and ate it with relish. There was also a park nearby, so she decided to go there. Most of the cherry trees were already losing their flowers and there were fewer of them on the trees. Here and there only small green leaves remain. Megi sat down under one of them and decided to calmly plan her return day tomorrow.
"I should take an earlier train to avoid the crowds, because it will be difficult with luggage. Only in Shinkansen will I be able to sit calmly..." She said to herself. "Then go to the airport to find a suitable place and wait patiently for check-in"
She carefully wrote down the hours in her notebook, got up and headed towards the stalls. The place started to get more and more crowded. Many people came to watch the fireworks display and to eat the delicious food offered by the stall owners. Megi tried fried octopus, bought a mask with a strange face as a souvenir, and finally chose a caramel apple. She found a place where there weren't too many people and waited for the show. After several minutes, fireworks started shooting into the sky. Various colors, sizes and shapes, illuminating the night sky. The girl's eyes glazed over as she watched the show.
