Adriana walked down the bustling hallway of her school, her steps light and brisk. Now and then, someone would stop her for a quick chat, and though she engaged courteously, she kept the conversations brief. Her eyes scanned the corridor until they landed on Wednesday at his locker. A mischievous grin spread across her face as she decided to sneak up on him.
With a stealthy approach, she crept up behind Wednesday and wrapped her arms around his waist. However, instead of the startled reaction she had hoped for, she was met with an exaggeratedly bored sigh. "Ah..."
Adriana tilted her head to rest her chin on his shoulder, her feet barely touching the ground as she stood on her toes to reach him. "Really? 'Ah'? At least try to be scared," she teased, trying to sound disappointed.
Wednesday glanced over his shoulder, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips, before returning to the task of packing books into his bag. His amusement was evident, though he did his best to maintain his usual deadpan demeanor.
The other students in the corridor watched with a mix of curiosity and bemusement. The scene was undeniably peculiar, even by the school's standards. Adriana, despite her close relationship with the enigmatic Wednesday Addams, seemed to retain her popular reputation, an anomaly that puzzled many.
As Wednesday continued his meticulous packing, Adriana lingered by his side, her presence a stark contrast to the usual chaos of high school life. The unconventional pair drew occasional glances, their interactions a curious spectacle to their peers, who couldn't quite figure out how the most enigmatic boy and the school's social butterfly had become so intertwined.
Adriana rested her chin on Wednesday's shoulder, her voice soft and teasing. "You know, I was hoping for a more dramatic reaction. A gasp, a jump—something to make this more exciting."
Wednesday, unperturbed, continued to organize his books with methodical precision. "Hm. Your attempt at surprise is hardly sufficient." Adriana's eyes twinkled with mischief as she pressed closer, her arms tightening around his waist. "Is that so? Maybe I'll have to try harder next time."
Wednesday finally allowed himself a small, genuine smile, though it remained subtle. "I look forward to it."
Adriana laughed softly, her breath warm against his neck. "Oh, I'm sure I can come up with something. Maybe a full-scale invasion?" Wednesday raised an eyebrow, glancing sideways at her. "An invasion? Whatever makes that heart of yours happy."
Adriana's grin widened. "Oh, you'll just have to wait and see. For now, how about we change the subject? What are your plans for tonight?" Wednesday closed his locker and faced her, his expression thoughtful. "My own funeral."
Adriana's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Ah! Right, I forgot. Nannies are coming. Who knew the Addams would hire one?" Wednesday's smirk loosened as irritation became clear on his face. "It's not by choice. Mother insists on it. Claims it's necessary."
