The afternoon sun bathed the camp in a golden glow, the warmth almost comforting if not for the overbearing cheerfulness that surrounded the place.

On the platform near the lake, Adriana stretched out on a lounge chair, wearing oversized sunglasses and stretched luxuriously, her skin absorbing just enough of the sun's rays to avoid becoming ghostly pale, but not so much that she'd turn a shade too close to Amanda's over-tanned complexion.

"Ah, this is more like it," she murmured. Sliding her sunglasses down slightly to glance at Wednesday, who was seated in a shadowy corner of the platform, his usual dark attire making him look like a reluctant bat in a sunlit cave.

Wednesday's expression remained impassive, though his eyes had a hint of fondness as he watched her. "You do realize that prolonged sun exposure can lead to premature aging and skin cancer," he remarked, his tone as dry as ever.

Adriana waved a dismissive hand, closing her eyes again. "I'm just getting my daily dose of vitamin D, Eddie. And you do realize your smoking habit will too lead to premature aging and death." She peeked at him again with a mischievous glint in her eye.

Wednesday didn't reply, instead, he had this amused smile that she didn't bite down. Despite his obvious distaste for the sun, he stayed, perched stiffly like a shadow unwilling to budge from her side. Adriana adjusted her sunglasses, peeking at him with a smirk.

"You know," she said, her voice teasing, "for someone who hates the sun as much as you do, you're being awfully loyal, Eddie."

Wednesday, sitting with his arms crossed and eyes narrowed against the brightness, gave a small grunt. "Loyalty has little to do with it," he replied, though there was an unmistakable glint of amusement in his eyes. "I'm simply ensuring that you don't combust from overexposure to something as frivolous as the sun."

Adriana chuckled, shifting to rest on her elbows. "Oh, so you're doing this out of a sense of duty. I see," she teased, her voice light. "How noble."

He glanced at her sideways. "Maybe I'm just intrigued by your struggle to avoid being as pale as me or as overcooked as those campers," he said, nodding towards the sunscreen-free group working under the blazing sun nearby. "It's a strange obsession, really."

Adriana laughed softly. She replied, stretching her arms up toward the sky before leaning back against her towel. "Not all of us thrive in the shadows." Wednesday's eyes softened, watching her with the faintest hint of indulgence. "So it seems."

For a few moments, they sat in comfortable silence, broken only by the distant sounds of other campers splashing around the lake. Despite his disdain for the Sun, Wednesday remained, his presence unwavering.

Finally, breaking the quiet, Wednesday shifted slightly. "I've arranged for a temporary escape, you know." Adriana's eyes opened fully, a spark of curiosity brightening them. She turned her head to look at him, propping herself up on one elbow. "An escape? Do tell."
