Chapter 28: Dreams

Today was a long day...We literally just got back from our mission, captured Diego, AND got attacked! So yeah! Big day!

I stand up and walk over to my mirror. I look at my shoulder...my hands...my hair. Everything's a mess. Today....was a mess. Know what I need? A SHOWER!
I head straight into the shower.

After walking back into my room, I proceed to get ready.
My PJs. Comfy!
I fix my hair up. This does need to be tamed.
Done.

Everything feels a little better. At least I do right now! Clean and peaceful. I walk over to my drawer and open the first one. Immediately grabbing my knife. This is going right under my pillow. No time for games. Mango just watches me and I race towards the bed.
Whew! Feeling better already!

All I can hope for is that my dream was fake and just a coincidence...still, should I have told someone?
I look to my clock and it's late. Shit. 11:47pm.
Way past my bedtime. I want to get a goods nights rest. Especially after today. As I lay down and get under the covers, I turn my lights out. Mango doesn't move. He stays sitting right in my window. Watching the outdoors. He does that a lot.
Finally. I doze off.
Peace has finally came.
One thing I hate about dreams, is you can never remember the good ones. They play once in your head but it's always a blur. The bad ones stay forever. Always with you. I hate bad dreams. They feel too real sometimes.
My eyes open...but it's dark. Nothing. It's like that dream with Diego...not this again.
I turn around and see a glowing light. Immediately, I run to it. The closer I get, the dimmer it gets. M-Mango...? Is that you buddy?? Why are you here? I look up and see 5 more lights side by side. Some bigger than others.
"What the fuck?" I whisper.
Mango just looks up at me and slowly blinks. "Mango...what are you doing here buddy?" I say softly to him. As I lean down to pet him, everything fades out and I wake up.
I quickly sit up, "What in the hell?!" I snap. Turning my head, I look towards my window. Mango.
"Mango.." I call out, "Come here!" I tap my bed and he proceeds to come over.
"Dude you wouldn't believe the dream I had. You were like this little ball of light and I was in complete darkness!" I say quietly.
These dreams. Now I just know it's some bullshit. Mango is just Mango. My orange cat, nothing more.
He just continues to look at me and lays down with me.
It's 1:32am.
I still have time for some sleep.
            Me and Mango doze off.

-BEEP BEEP BEEP-
-BEEP BEEP BEEP-

"Ughhh!" I shout. As I turn over, I slam the snooze button. Another day huh? Great. Pulling my covers up, I notice that Mango isn't with me. "Mango?" I call out.
Nothing.
Hmm. He must be downstairs eating then. Maybe I should just go ahead and get ready.

When everything is the way it should be, I tighten my hair tie.
"Perfect!" I say calmly, "Nice."
       Then I head downstairs. That's weird. I don't smell anything cooking. "Pa?" I calmly call out, "Are you home?"
Damn. We did have that intrusion last night...he may be trying to help out around here. My pa is strong.

This is no biggie. I can go to that place down the road and get some breakfast. Me and my parents went there all the time when I was younger.

    I finally walk out and lock the door. Let's get to it.
Walking into the restaurant, I immediately take a seat. The lady at the front greets me, "Hiya! Good morning to you! I'll be right with you!" she shouts out. I nod at her and smile.
To be honest, I don't even need a menu. I know what I want.
As the door opens, the bells above ring.
"Hiya again sir! I got your usual right here for ya! Just $10 please" she says nicely.
"Thanks. You're the best" Kash says calmly. I immediately look up and he looks over at me. Oh shit.
    "Actually ma'am, can I have this order for here? I want to dine in this morning" he quickly says.
She smiles and shouts, "Of course! That'll be great!" As Kash walks off, the lady stares him down. He finally sits in front of me and she just glares at my direction. What the hell?
"Hey Chibi...good morning to you" he says softly, "How'd you sleep?"
"I slept great. How about you?" I reply back with the same tone.
The lady walks over.
"Here is your order" placing a plate in front of Kash, "....and what about you?" She looks at me. Wait..this bitch is mad or something?
"My usual. BLT sandwich with hash browns, please" I say calmly. She writes it down, looks at Kash,  smiles then walks off. Hmm.
The drama.
He pushes his plate forward.
"You're not eating?" I say.
"Not right now" he says softly, "I'm waiting."
"Waiting for?" I reply.
"Your food Chibi" he says to me.
The lady comes back bringing drinks. Giving Kash a lemonade and giving me a water. You've got to be kidding me. A water? Seriously? I look at Kash and he's looking at our drinks. He then slowly switches them around. This dude.
"A lemonade goes better with a BLT" he says calmly, then lets out a little laugh.
I can't help but to laugh too. I think he's catching on. "This is crazy" I say softly. He just laughs and stares at me.
The lady walks up fast, placing my plate down. "Eat up!" she shouts, "You look like you could use it!" Then darts off.
I quickly turn my head and stand up. Kash grabs my arm and stops me. "Chibi-don't do that...please. I want you to eat instead right now" he says calmly. I look to him and huff. "Fine" I snap.
I look at my food and Kash pulls his plate back closer to him. When I take my first bite, Kash immediately does the same after.
Damn this is good.
I can't help but to be so excited. I do a little dance and swing from left and right. Kash quickly looks up and starts to laugh.
"What??? Don't laugh at me Kash!" I shout.
He puts his hands up chuckling, "Okay okay fine! You win" he says softly. Not long after, the waitress comes back.
"Everything alright over here?" she says softly looking at Kash. He nods his head, "Yes! Of course! We love it" he says softly. She then nods.
"I'm glad YOU do" she says calmly. She then glances at me before walking off. What the fuck? I immediately stand up, very irritated at this point.
"Yo dude! What's your problem?" I snap. The waitress slowly turns around, "Excuse me?" she says calmly.
"Well I mean you've been acting rude all damn morning. Did I do something to offend you?" I say calmly back.
She smiles softly and takes two steps forward. "Well..." she says softly, "To be honest I don't like you or your family."
M-My family.....? Oh......fine.
"What did we ever do to you? Not shit!" I shout.
"Actually you guys did!" she shouts back, "If it weren't for your parents, MINE would still be alive you trash ass fighters!"
I open my mouth to say the words but I can't put a sentence together.
Kash immediately stands up and walks over to me. "Chibi calm down! Please! It's okay!" he says softly with worry in his voice.
Oh great. He thinks I'm crazy too.
I slowly look to him. His eyes focus right on me.
"Ugh!" the waitress shouts, "This is just a sad case! Just weak. How the hell did you even pass?? I heard your parents froze out there too. My parents needed help and yours didn't do a damn thing but watch..."
I quickly turn my head and look at her. I walk straight for her but Kash grabs my arm, pulling me back.
"Hell no Kash! Let go!" I shout.
Then all of a sudden...I get slapped in the face and it shocked me. Literally.
"Stupid weak trash is what you and your family are! You guys have no real strength!" she growls.

Everything stopped. At that moment it felt like time wasn't moving. Did she just.....hit me?
