NICOLE'S POV
I jolted awake, the sound of my mother's shrill voice ringing in my ears.
"Nicole! Wake up this instant!" she bellowed, her face twisted in a scowl. "The electricians will be here soon to fix the issues in the house, and the pool workers are already downstairs. Get yourself ready - we can't have you lazing about while there's work to be done!"
I groaned inwardly, the irritation already bubbling up within me. Of course, more disruptive workers to deal with. As if I didn't have enough to worry about with the pool renovations going on.
"Ugh, fine," I muttered, reluctantly pulling myself out of bed. "I'll be quick."
Without waiting for my mother's response, I hurried into the bathroom, turning on the shower and hastily scrubbing myself clean. The hot water did little to soothe my nerves - all I could think about was the inconvenience these tradesmen would cause.
Once I was dressed, I stormed downstairs, my mood souring further as I caught sight of the pool workers toiling away. I glared at them, as if my mere presence would make them work faster.
"Honestly, couldn't you have finished this project sooner?" I snapped at the nearest worker, Lulu, if I remembered correctly. "Now we have to deal with the electricians on top of it all."
He flinched at my outburst, his brow furrowing with what looked like a mixture of fear and resentment. Good. He should know his place.
I turned on my heel, not caring to hear his response, and marched towards the kitchen, where I could already smell the breakfast my mother was preparing. At least that would be one less inconvenience to deal with.
As I sat down at the table, my mind raced with all the things I would need to coordinate - the electricians' arrival, the pool workers' intrusion, and the general disruption to my daily routine. Why did everything always have to be so complicated?
I let out an exasperated sigh, taking a sip of my coffee and bracing myself for the long day ahead. Nothing was ever easy in this household, it seemed. But I would power through, as I always did, even if it meant taking my frustrations out on those around me.
I could feel my head pounding as the influx of workers invaded our once-peaceful home. With a total of 10 people bustling about, including the electricians and the pool crew, the house had descended into absolute chaos. We also have a lot of maids, this is chaotic!
The constant noise, the intrusion of strangers, the disruption to my daily routine - it was all too much to handle. I could feel my irritation levels rising with every passing minute.
When my mother barked at me to clear my belongings from the guest room, I couldn't help but protest.
"What? Why do I have to move my things? They're renovating the pool and the electricity, not that room," I argued, my voice laced with exasperation.
But my mother's response was swift and unyielding.
"Don't question me, Nicole. Just do as I say," she snapped, her eyes narrowing. "The workers need that space to fix, shut up and do it now!"
I opened my mouth to retort, but the stern look on her face told me it would be futile. With a huff, I gathered my belongings and trudged over to the other guest room, feeling like a petulant child.
As I set my things down, I couldn't help but glance around the unfamiliar space, my annoyance only growing. This was my house, my home - why did I have to be the one to accommodate these intrusive workers?
I let out an irritated sigh, plopping down on the bed and running a hand through my hair. The chaos and disruption were beginning to wear on me, and I could feel my patience wearing thin.
