NICOLE'S POV

Days had passed since the whirlwind of emotions, and I finally felt ready to face the world again.

- I need to learn to heal.

I took time to pay back my suitors, returning their cards, returning their money and returning the expensive gifts they had bought for me.

It felt like the right thing to do; It feels unfair to them.

After making things right, I stepped outside into the refreshing air.

The sun peeked through the clouds, highlighting a warm glow that felt almost comforting.

I decided to drive around with my car, letting the gentle breeze fill the car as I tried to clear my mind.

As I drove, my heart guided me to a familiar place—the very sidewalk where Lulu used to live with his siblings.

The memories flooded back, each one a bittersweet reminder of our time together. I parked the car and got out, standing there as the world around me fell silent.

I took a deep breath, the scent of fresh flowers in the air mingling with the warmth of the sun.

My heart ached with longing. “I miss you so much, Lulu,” I whispered, feeling the sadness wash over me.

I closed my eyes, picturing his smile and the way his laughter used to light up the place.

I miss his cuteness and innocence, the time I love teasing him.

It felt like a lifetime ago, and yet the memories were vivid, as if he were still here with me.

Standing there, I let the tears flow freely, feeling both lost and grateful.

I wished I could share this moment with him, to tell him how much I cherished our relationship and how deeply I felt his loss.

As I stood on the familiar sidewalk, lost in my thoughts, I suddenly spotted Lelet approaching.

“Hey, Nicole,” he said with a gentle smile. “It’s good to see you.”

“Good to see you too, Lelet,” I replied, my heart feeling a little lighter. “I’ve been thinking about Lulu a lot lately. I wonder what really happened before… before he died.”

Lelet’s expression shifted, a hint of sadness in his eyes. “I can share what I know,” he said softly. “It’s a lot to unpack, but you deserve to know.”

FLASHBACK:

Lulu stepped out of the mansion, the heavy door creaking behind him.

The moon greeted him with coldness, and calmness washed over him as he took his first steps toward home.

The bustling market was just a few minutes away, vibrant with colors and sounds, drawing him in like a moth to a flame.

As he wandered through the lively stalls, Lulu’s eyes landed on a vendor showcasing intricate origami creations.

His heart skipped a beat—Nicole loved origami.

He could already picture her face lighting up when he surprised her with something special.

“Lulu!” a familiar voice called out. Turning, he saw Lelet, waving excitedly.

They embraced warmly, both grinning from ear to ear.

“What are you doing here?” Lulu asked, glancing at the bouquet Lelet held.

“I’m buying flowers for my wife. It’s our anniversary tomorrow,” Lelet replied, his eyes shining with affection.
