Chapter Four - An Eye for an Eye

The weight of that night's events burdened my mind relentlessly. Viktor, without the knowledge of the vampire king or his council, had whisked me away from my home, defying the laws that prohibited taking Breed from their destined path. Ignorant of this forbidden truth, my Aunt had never deemed it necessary to disclose such information to me. And really, why would she? In her twisted plan, I was destined to marry that repulsive old man and bear as many offspring as possible.

Self-hatred consumed me, fueled by the realization that those two vampires had managed to extract pleasure from my blood. The mere thought made my stomach churn with disgust. They had mercilessly taken the lives of my sister, my aunt, and perhaps even my parents...

The memories of my sister and aunt haunted me, their faces etched in my mind. I couldn't shake the image of my aunts lifeless body, the pain of  loss cutting through me like a knife. They had been taken from me, their lives snuffed out by the very beings who now held me captive.

Anger simmered within me, fueling a determination to seek justice for their deaths. But the reality of my situation, the power that Viktor and Lord Dragomir wielded over me, left me feeling powerless and trapped. I was at their mercy, a pawn in their dark and twisted game.

Alone in the tower room, I surveyed my surroundings, feeling the absence of Viktor who had abruptly left me there. The space felt frigid, its very essence a constant reminder of my captivity. The walls, covered in ominous tapestries, seemed to close in on me, suffocating my spirit. The air hung heavy with the scent of aged wood and incense, amplifying the isolation that enveloped me. It was a stark contrast to the idyllic meadows and open fields that had once filled my daydreams of escape.

Drawn to the towering windows, I approached them with a heavy heart. The moon's ethereal glow painted elongated shadows across the room, adding to the melancholic atmosphere. Resting my hand against the cool glass, I couldn't help but feel a surge of longing and despair intertwine within me. Through the glass, my eyes were captivated by a captivating sight - the vast expanse of what I assumed was the ocean. Having only read about it in books, I had never laid eyes upon its beauty before. The moon's gentle embrace cast a serene glow upon the water, illuminating its surface with a mesmerizing shimmer. The crashing waves, their rhythmic symphony against the castle walls, provided a haunting sound to this picturesque scene..

For a moment, I allowed myself to be swept away by the view, imagining a world where I could be free, where the ocean's endless horizon held the promise of new beginnings. The thought was both comforting and painful, a reminder of the life that had been stolen from me.

As I stood there, lost in the sight and sound of the ocean, a sense of resolve began to take root within me. The beauty of the world outside these walls was a stark contrast to the darkness that held me captive. It fueled my determination to escape, to reclaim my freedom and seek justice for my family.

Lost in contemplation, questions flooded my mind. Where exactly was I? How far had Viktor taken me from my familiar world? In truth, it seemed inconsequential at this point. I realized that my knowledge of the world beyond was limited, my understanding of its vastness and intricacies mere fragments. The confinement of my existence had left me disoriented and detached from the larger reality that lay beyond the castle walls.

I looked towards the mirror, the sight of my reflection was a stark reminder of the toll this ordeal had taken on me. I barely recognized the person staring back. My usually vibrant complexion was now ghostly pale, and the dark circles under my eyes made me look haunted and exhausted. The bite marks stood out angrily against my skin, a constant reminder of the violation I had endured.
