‼️TW: Fear, near-drowning, mental stuff‼️
Rhine was under the surface of the not-water, attempting to swim to the surface. He couldn’t breathe. He couldn’t see. He couldn’t hear.
Devoid of senses, Rhine let himself sink in the liquid. Why… Why is my brain like this? Why must I-
Rhine fell out of the liquid and onto some hard rock, but was still under the surface. He could finally BREATHE.
“Was… is this place..?” Rhine said quietly, drenched but not entirely caring at the moment. He was in a cavern, under the surface of the black liquid. The stone was… a strange reddish color.
“What is this place..?” Rhine asked aloud, turning around to look around.
“Welcome, to our mind.”
Rhine whipped around, and saw… himself. But not himself. This version of himself wore the familiar Nazi officer uniform, but form fitting in the pants and… with the armband. And… the smile. That ungodly, manic smile that showed most of his teeth.
Oh no… Rhine thought, backing up. He hated that uniform. But a part of him found it enjoyable, and he hated that sick part of him.
“What is it? What is it you want?” Rhine called out, backing up.
“What is it I want?” The wrong version of him laughed, “I want you to relinquish control to me.” He walked forward, a glint of… metal? How did Not-Rhine get metal?
Rhine backed up until his back hit the stone. His breathing quickened, terrified of what Not-Rhine would do - with or without the metal.
“I won't.” Rhine said, his voice wavering. He could barely hear his own voice over the beating of his own fearful heart.
“Oh?” Not-Rhine asked, tilting his head to the side while the manic smile fell slightly.
Rhine felt the blood drain from his face, “Nein… no nononono…” He said softly, shaking his head as he pressed himself against the cold stone.
“Then I guess I'll have to take it-”
Rhine woke up, his heart pounding, and feeling drenched and cold. That nightmare… felt so real. And what had been that black liquid?
