"My reason to come home."

🝮

I WOKE, in the infirmary it was empty. Not a soul insight, I got up walking out the door looking around for anyone. I headed to the landing deck. I could believe who was in front of me. "What? Your godfather can't get a hug?" He asked me as he stood  there with a small. I rushed dropping my head in his neck holding the embrace tightly.

"You..you can't be here." I mumbled as I felt the tears running down my face feeling them go over my blush lips. "Fallon, It's okay..everything is going to be okay kid." He went on, pulling away from me a bit wiping my tear. "You just had to wait till I was dead to let him know you still love him huh?" Ice joked with a laugh as I soon laughed myself.  "You ready?" He asked softly as his blue eyes looked into my brown ones. "For what?" I asked wiping tears.

"For him." He spoke pointing down to my belly smiling. "What? what do you mean?" I asked confused as ever to what he meant. "You know you're father's always talked about you two getting together." Ice told me as we walked to the center of base where our KIAs and Veterans pictures stood. "He loved that kid." He went on, as we stopped in front of Goose's picture. "And you."

I smiled. "Tell your dad something for me, will ya kid?"

"Of course anything."

"Not his fault." He told me referring to himself and Uncle Goose. "And Kid you and Bradley are finally going to get your happy ending."

"But what about you?" I asked as the tear formed again. "I had my time and goddamn it was a time." He told me wiping the tears as they came. "Now go, wake up Fallon."

Wake up. Wake up. The voice that was once's Ice's turned to Hondos. "Wake up, come on Fallon." I heard Hondo say as I finally came too. I gasped deeply for air as I sigh of relief came outta him catching his breath. "I thought we lost you."

____

I made my way outside where I was struck by wind as I stepped outside, nearly toppling me over. I was still in my khakis, but the flight crew seemed to still allow me up. I heard Hondo's footsteps but I didn't care I was getting to Hangmans plane. I soon spotted it as I  ran- and limped - to Hangman's plane. I banged on the side of the jet and curled down the ladder myself. Hangman took off his helmet and looking at me  climbing up in awe. "What the hell are you doing, Falcon?!" He exclaimed "You need to go get them, Hangman." I stated. He scoffed, "I tried, but Simpson said not to."
"It's Bradley, Hangman. Its Rooster, okay? And it's my dad. I can't fly so I need you to do it for me."

"No but-"

"Dagger spare, do you copy?"

Hangman and I froze, staring at each other. He spoke into his comms without looking away from me. "Dagger spare, copy." He replied. "Rooster's E-Sat is online. He's airborne." I gasped, My eyes blowing wide and my heart lifting to my throat. "Holy fucking shit." I whispered. "Reports of an F-14 tomcat is headed for our position. They'll need backup."

"Who else would fly a goddamn F-14 with Rooster?" Hangman commented with a smirk. "Go save the day, Bagman." You quipped, before running back inside.

___

"What the hell are you doing?" Hondo shouted at me as I entered the building .I grabbed his shoulders and pulled him into an embrace. He stood still for a moment before lightly placing his hands on your back."What's going on, Fall?"I pulled back ever so slightly and looked at Hondo, "Dad and Bradley are alive. They're in an F-14 and hopefully they're coming home. Hangman just got sent to get them." Hondo took a deep breath collecting his thoughts. "You're your father's daughter, that's for sure." He finally spoke.I grinned and squeezed his arm before walking back down the stairs.

He followed behind me as I marched towards the control room, bursting through the doors and sitting back down in my seat. "Mitchell, you shouldn't be in here." Simpson told me. I looked up at him, "I need to be here." Simpson opened his mouth to tell me off, but Hondo cut in front of him and stared him down as he sat next to me."She needs to be here." Hondo reiterated. Simpson closed his mouth and clenching his jaw.

There was no more crying. No more hysterics. Fallon had to focus. Anything could happen and she needed to be prepared. Her back ached, adding to the pressure and tension that encapsulated her entire being She'd rather that pain than even think of the worst outcome.
The young female pilot rolled her head, stretching her neck, and then opened her eyes. "The GPS is not responding. I think they're low in terrain."Hangman spoke over comms. She watched as Bates and Simpson gave each other a look.
"Tell him to keep high, don't go below deck. They're in a dogfight." Simpson ordered.

She swallowed, trying to keep her cool her brain was overwhelmed by thoughts and outcomes. She couldn't hear them, so she had no clue about where they were or what they were doing. But the sound of Maverick getting into a dogfight in an F-14 sounded about right to his daughter. Only thing  a little surprising was that he would be doing it with Bradley in the backseat. It sure was one hell of a bonding session."Sir, we have a signal connecting to Rooster's E-Sat. We've got their location."Her eyes lit up and her jaw dropped. Hondo grasped her shoulder and Fallon turned to face his huge grin.
"They're okay." You whispered in disbelief.
He nodded, "Of course they are." she took a deep breath and exhaled. They were coming home and lord did she have news.
