Chapter Four

Calcutta Hospital

"Hello doctor, I'm Khushi Chatterjee Ahana Chatterjee's daughter. Mum kaisi hai?" Khushi asked as soon as she spotted the doctor coming out of the ICU. "Hello beta. I won't lie to you and give you false hope. Your mother's condition is very very bad. You can lose her any moment" said the doctor with a heavy voice. No matter how many times he did it, it's always hard to deliver such grave news. "Doctor we can do something right, there must be some-" "No there isn't. What you can do is be with her. She needs you right now. Take care" doctor cut Khushi gently. Khushi sat down on the chair with a thud. She saw her mum just a few hours back safe and sound. What happened suddenly? "Durga Maa please mum ko save karlo please. Mera unke alawa hai hi kaun" prayed Khushi. She knows her Durga Maa will save her mum. "Khushi I think you should go meet aunty. I'll wait for you here" said Piya. Khushi wordlessly started walking towards her mum's room.

"Mum" Khushi cried as soon as she saw Ahana. She never looked this pale. She was her shining star. "Mum utho na please. Ap jitna bologe utna apples khaungi. Kabhi apko pareshan nai karungi. Please uth jao" Khushi urged her mum. "Mishti, mei yahi hu dekho tumhare pas" Ahana said as she knew her mishti couldn't bear her silence. "Mum yeh kya hogya? Mei na apka pura khyal rakhungi okay kuch nai hoga apko" Khushi said determined. "Beta meri baat suno, mere pas zyada wakt nai hai. Mishti you know na I love you the most. And after I go-" "you aren't going anywhere" Khushi cut her off. "Beta listen to me. After I go I want you to give yourself a chance. I know you love to sing so please mere liye singer banegi na mishti" Ahana asked her softly. She knew mishti would completely break down after she dies. "Mum mereko please mat chodke jana please" Khushi sobbed while holding Ahana's hands. "Mishti I have to go. But I have to tell you something. Beta you always told me you wanted a big family right. So your Durga Maa has granted you that. You have an amazing dad, and three older brothers - Kartik, Kavin and Kairav" Ahana told Khushi. "What? Kya bolrhe hai ap? The only family I have is you" Khushi argued. "No beta. I'm a part of your family. But the other parts of your family is in Mumbai. Promise me you will meet them and give them a chance" Ahana asked Khushi. She knew this is the only way to make her mishti and her sons meet. It was long overdue. "Mum but-" "No Khushi I want you to promise me you will" Ahana adamantly asked. "Okay mum I'll" Khushi said dejected what can she do at this point. "Apna or apne bhaiyo ka khyal rakhna. I love you mish-" and the machines started beeping indicating Ahana left this world. Unknowingly both souls left the earth on the same day leaving behind four broken children.

2 days later

Mumbai

Three brothers were standing in front of the burning pyre. All of them were trying very hard to supress their emotions. "Kavin and Kairav tumlog ghar jao I have some work in the office I'll come after that" Kartik said as he started moving towards his car. He doesn't know how last two days passed. "Ruko" a voice yelled. "Aarvi tum yaha kya kar rhi ho? Maan or advait wait kr rhe honge. Go with them" Kartik said as started his car's engine. "Nai i want to go with you and I will. Anyways Bhai and adu have gone w Sia" Aarvi said as she sat comfortably in the car. "What are you doing here Aaru?" Kartik asked tiredly. "Just being with you. Let's go to the beach, we haven't been there in a long time" Aarvi suggested. Kartik started driving towards the beach.

"Kavin yaar kuch bolna! You haven't said a single word since uncle passed" asked a worried Vyom. Vyom know's his best friend very well. "Vyom there's nothing to talk. I'm okay you don't have to babysit me" Kavin said emotionlessly. "Kav I know you aren't okay. Ektoh uncle passed away uprse you got to know abou-" "Please let's not talk about her. I really don't want to know about her. So let it go" Kavin said as he doesn't want to know about the girl who has turned his world upside down in two days. "Kab tak? Kavin kab tak? Ese rehne se tu thik nai hoga you need to let it out" Vyom urged. "Kuch nai hai nikalne ke liye and it's late you need leave" said Kavin as he poured himself another drink. "Abhi toh tumne mujhe chup karadiya par kab tak. I hope tujhe teri khushi miljaye" Vyom thought as he left thr Roy Kapoor Mansion.

"Kairav tu yaha hai or meine kaha kaha nai dhundha tumko" a huffing Devanshi said. "Ruv I know things are difficult right now. But you know morning comes after a dark night. Waise hi yeh dark night bhi pass hojaegi" said Devanshi gently. Kairav laid down his head on her lap. "Kaise Anshi? Bhaiya do din se ghar wapas nai aye hai. Bhai toh kisise baat nai krrhe. Papa ka secret ne sabko tod diya hai" Kairav said dejectedly. "I know uncle ne jo kiya wo galat tha but unki bhi koi wajah hogi na. I'm sure there must be something. Or waise tumhe abhi apna pura dhyan Khushi ko dhundne mei lagana chaiye" Devanshi suggested. "I don't know Anshi. What if she hates us?" Kairav couldn't help but ask. "Do you hate her?" Devanshi asked Kairav in return. "Why would I? She's my sister" Kairav said he can't bring himself to hate that girl even if doesn't know her. "Then tumhe kyu lagta she will hate you guys?" Devanshi asked and Kairav understood her point. "I think you guys should start finding her soon" Devanshi said. She knew now only Khushi can mend her brothers' broken hearts.

Somewhere

"Kaam hogya?" a woman asked. "Ji ma'am. Dono ka accident ek sath hi huya and sath hi sidha parlok sidhar gye (passed away) dono ke dono" the voice on the other side laughed. "Tumhe tumhare paise miljayenge. Bas kai chup jao or mujhe kabhi apna muh mat dikhana" the woman said as she cut the call. "Kunal meine kaha tha na tum mere agar nai hosake toh kisi ke bhi nai hoge khaskar ke (specially) us Ahana ke toh bilkul nai" the woman laughed maniacally.
