Last night, Aru Shah got no sleep.

Why? Because a handsome guy she's been liking for like, 4 years, somehow got her number and started texting her.

"Are you okay, Aru?" asked Kara whilst walking to school.

"Fine," replied Aru, not meeting her eye.

Kara looked down at her outfit, "Isn't that my sweater?" she asked pointedly.

Aru looked down at her magenta hoodie, "Could be."

"Arundhati Shah," said Kara menacingly.

"Relax, Kara Sunshine," said Aru, smirking. "I'll give it back tonight."

When they got to Augustus Day Private High School, Aru and Kara parted their ways at the first fork.

"I'll see you?" said Kara.

Aru smiled in response and turned around, walking to her first period class.

Aru walked down the prestigious high school, lined with teal lockers and marble tiles. Aru walked to her locker, 289, stuffing her phone and airpods onto the top shelf.

"Aru!" exclaimed a familiar voice behind her.

"Mini!" said Aru, lifting her arm for an elbow bump. Mini happily accepted the gesture and placed her jacket inside the shared locker.

"So, how is my one and only best friend?" asked Aru.

Mini rolled her eyes, "Yesterday my brother brought home cheesecake after winning his soccer game, but then he tripped over the mat at the door, got cheesecake all over his face and he has a bruise on his stomach."

"That was very...descriptive?" said Aru.

"Anyway," said Mini. "You have English with Mrs.Miller first, right?"

"Unfortunately," sighed Aru.

English was one of Aru's favourite subjects. Words could just come to her at any given time and it was never impossible to write with them. But with every good thing comes a bad cause. Mrs. Miller, her English teacher, was a pain in the ass and ruined the beauty of learning English.

"We'd better get going," said Mini.

"What do you have?" asked Aru.

"Biology with Mr.Dietz."

Aru sighed, "See you later, Mini."

They saw each other later.

Aru and Mini met at their usual spot at the doors of the cafeteria.

"How was class?" asked Mini.

"Shit," replied Aru.

"Language," warned Mini.

"I'm sorry mom," said Aru.

At the cafeteria, Mini spotted Rudy, who shot her a small wave. Mini blushed, and looked down.

Aru however, was drawn to the person Rudy was arguing with. He had a camera slung over his right shoulder, and curly hair that shined in the sun.

"Come 'ere!" waved Rudy.

Aru and Mini promptly made their way to the other side of the cafeteria.

Mini smiled at Rudy, spraying him with her sanitizer, before giving him a big hug.

"I missed you," she whispered.

"I missed you too, my queen," said Rudy, caressing the ends of Mini's hair.
