You wake up in the dark and hear the screaming of lambs.

Shivangi's POV

I was in my light slumber when I heard some muffled sound. Being a light sleeper, my instincts kicked in causing me to sit on the bed. I scanned the room for any intruder or something suspicious, but none.

Thinking this of as a hallucination, I again  laid in the sleeping position, only to hear that sound again. I looked at the clock and realised that it was almost the time abhi asked me to wake him up.

I panned my attention to him when I realised that the muffled sounds are actually coming from him. Sweat broke out on his forehead, even visible in the dark light, hair damped and knuckles white due to the strong grip of the comforter.

'He's having a nightmare.' I thought and watched him silently because it's not the right thing to wake the person up who's in a nightmare. It affects that person's mind badly.

7 to 8 minutes passed but it felt like he was still in his nightmare, even shaking a little bit. Going against my mindset I decided to wake him up.

"Abhi!! Wake up, abhi!" I tried to drag him out of his nightmare. He woke up with a jerk, strongly gasping for air. I tried to ask him what was going on in his mind but still he was sitting quietly like a paralyzed person.

"Abhi what happened?" I asked after a few minutes of silence.

"I had a weird dream. Something very terrible." abhi said slowly.

"Will you please share it with me?" I asked back slowly, stroking his back.

He let out a sigh and proceeded to tell me what he saw. Well this wasn't a dream but like a flashback.

"Looks like even your great-grandpa wants to help kaaya." I said.

He just hummed lowly and the alarm ranged, indicating it was 4:30 A.M.

"I'll get ready, raghav will be here by 5." abhi said and went in the washroom. I wasn't confident enough to let abhi go alone so I suggested him to take raghav along with him.

My mind was still processing the dream abhi told me but my trance broke when I heard a loud rumbling sound, followed by a thunderclap. I paced my way towards the window only to get shocked by the view outside.

Thunderstorm. The sky was filled with pitch black and blue hues, with thunderbolts flashing lights in between. Air pressure low and windows icy-cold.

My room had a clear view of the garden in front of the haveli. I was about to close the curtains when something caught my eye and the realisation hit me like a truck.

"What the hell!?" I said and quickly made my way towards the garden. I picked up two shawls from the coat hook and moved out of the room.

Stepping in the main hall, I saw rivansh resting on the sofa. He noticed my restlessness and ran towards me.

"What happened ma'am?" he asked, keeping pace with me.

"Just come along." I said and kept moving ahead.

The freezing cold atmosphere engulfed me as soon as I stepped out, causing me to jitter my teeth. We came in the front garden and he saw the thing which shocked me a few minutes ago.

Kaaya was curled up on the swing. As we were drawing close, I noticed how her frame was quivering of cold. Her skin turning pale in the shade of blue. It was a child's play to tell that she was passed out by now.

Approaching her, I quickly covered her with the two shawls I took along. That was when I noticed her body was burning hell. Rivansh picked her up in bridal style while I walked ahead of them.
