- Narrator's POV -

~ Play: Heaven by Julia Michaels ~

The opulent ballroom was a dazzling spectacle of Victorian grandeur. The chandeliers hung like constellations, their crystals casting a prismatic light over the elegantly dressed guests. The soft strains of a string quartet played in the background, mingling with the murmur of conversation and the clinking of fine china. The air was rich with the scents of roses, lavender, and the faint hint of a luxurious perfume.

Pedri leaned against a grand column, his gaze sweeping over the room with a mix of pride and mounting frustration. The donation gala, organized to raise funds for a cause of equality against footballers, was a resounding success. The decorations were perfect, the guests were delighted, and the atmosphere was everything he had envisioned. But all that grandeur seemed to fade into insignificance whenever he looked towards Lina.

Lina was the epitome of elegance tonight, dressed in a breathtaking gown that shimmered in the dim light. Her dark hair was elegantly styled, and her radiant smile made her the center of attention wherever she went. But Pedri's attention was fixated on something—or rather someone—he was desperately trying to ignore: her with Joao.

Joao, one of Pedri's close friends & teammates, was now walking alongside Lina. They were engaged in a lively conversation, their laughter blending seamlessly with the music. Joao's arm was casually draped around Lina's waist, and Pedri could see the way Lina's eyes sparkled as she responded to Joao's anecdotes.

Pedri's fists clenched involuntarily. He knew that his jealousy was irrational; Lina was free to socialize with whomever she pleased. But seeing her so close with Joao, someone who seemed to effortlessly draw her attention, ignited a storm of emotions within him. The sight of them together felt like a direct challenge to his own feelings, and he was struggling to keep his composure.

As Joao led Lina to the bar, Pedri couldn't take it any longer. He excused himself from a conversation and headed towards them, his jaw set in a firm line. When he reached the bar, Lina was engaged in an animated discussion with Joao, her laughter ringing out like a bell.

He had enough. His fingerprints indenting in the sweaty palms of his was proof enough, let alone the pounding of his head.

As if drawn by an invisible force, Lina and Joao approached the bar, their conversation animated and lively. Lina's smile was radiant, and Joao was leaning in close, whispering something that made her laugh. Pedri's frustration boiled over. He could no longer contain the surge of jealousy that was consuming him.

"Lina!" Pedri's voice cut through the din of the gala, sharper than he intended. "Can we talk?"

Lina's eyes widened in surprise, and she excused herself from Joao, following Pedri to a quieter corner of the ballroom. The ornate wallpaper and plush velvet drapes created an intimate setting, but Pedri was too agitated to appreciate the surroundings.

"What's wrong, Pedri?" Lina asked, her tone a mixture of concern and annoyance. "I thought we were having a good time."

Pedri's eyes blazed with intensity as he confronted her. "A good time? You've been all over Joao night, and I can't stand it anymore. It's like I'm invisible, and all you care about is how charming he is."

Lina's expression shifted from surprise to anger. "Oh, so this is about Joao? You're making a scene because I'm spending time with my friend? I thought you'd be too busy with this event to even notice!"

Pedri's face reddened with frustration. "It's not just about Joao! It's about you and me. I feel like I'm losing you, and everytime I see you with him, it reminds me how much I want to be the one by your side. But instead, I'm stuck watching from the sidelines while you seem perfectly happy without me. Is that how you want it to be? "

Lina's eyes flashed with anger, but there was also a glimmer of vulnerability. "You think I'm happy without you? I've been trying to give you space to focus on the gala, but clearly, I've been nothing but a distraction. I'm here for you, Pedri, but you're too busy stewing in jealousy & fame to even notice."

Pedri's heart ached at her words. He had been so consumed by his own insecurities that he hadn't considered how his behavior was affecting Lina. He had to own up, even if it meant putting his own ego down.  "You're right," he said, his voice cracking with raw emotion. "I've been so wrapped up in my own jealousy that I haven't stopped to think about how much I need you. I don't want to lose you. I want you with me, not just as a guest at my event, but as my partner, someone who's by my side through everything."

Lina's face softened, though her anger was still evident. She was grateful for the confession he made, and it was time to make one of her own "And I want you, Pedri. I only brought Joao here to make you jealous, to prove that you needed me and I needed you.I know that to be true now But it feels like every time we're together, there's this wall between us. "

Pedri's frustration turned into a desperate need, a realization of how much he desired her, not just emotionally but physically. He stepped closer, closing the distance between them. "I don't want to push you away. I want to be with you, in every way possible. I'm tired of fighting these feelings and pretending everything's okay. I need you, Ellinia. Please, let me need you. "

Lina's breath caught in her throat as Pedri's intense gaze locked onto hers. The tension between them was palpable, a mixture of unresolved anger and undeniable attraction. Without warning, Pedri's lips crashed against hers in a kiss that was fierce and hungry. It was a kiss fueled by frustration, longing, and the deep-seated desire they had both been trying to suppress.

Lina responded with equal fervor, her hands gripping Pedri's shoulders as she pressed closer to him. Their kiss was a release of all the pent-up emotions, a declaration of their love and lust. The world around them seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them in their passionate embrace.

When they finally pulled away, both breathless and flushed, Pedri's eyes searched Lina's face, filled with a mix of love and regret. "I'm sorry, Lina. I don't want to hurt you. I just... I need you."

Lina's eyes were soft but resolute. "I need you too, Pedri. Let's stop pretending and start being honest with each other."

Pedri nodded, a sense of relief washing over him. The passionate kiss had cleared the air, and he felt a renewed sense of connection with Lina. They stood together in the quiet corner, the noise of the gala a distant hum, their hearts beating in sync.

As they joined the festivities, hand in hand, the Victorian-themed ballroom seemed to come alive with a new sense of purpose. They faced the rest of the evening together, their bond stronger and their love more passionate than ever.

The gala, with all its splendor and elegance, had become the backdrop for a moment of profound connection and fiery resolve, marking a new chapter in their tumultuous but deeply felt relationship.

Lina & Pedri both felt that this was the start of something new, honest and passionate for both of them. For sure this time, as they don't want to feel what it was like to suffer without another's bickering or touch. They wouldn't allow it.
