EVER SINCE THE DAY AURORA SURPRISED CHAN ON HIS LIVE, the two have gotten closer, meeting up whenever they could squeeze time into their crazy schedules. if they weren't hanging out, they'd text or call, maintaining a connection despite their packed lives.
today, they were back in chan's studio to work on aurora's album. a session that has taken days to plan around their commitments. once they finally settled in, aurora explained her version for a new song. ,,this one's called feather," she said. "it's more upbeat, so i was thinking i'd record it first. then you can decide the sound."
"sounds perfect," chan replied, as she stood, stretching before stepping into the booth. watching her, he couldn't shake the feeling of disbelief that someone so talented wanted to work with him.
aurora noticed his expression and laughed softly. "come on, chris! you're amazing. why wouldn't i want to work with someone as talented as you?"
blushing, he waved it off, but her words fuelled his confidence as he prepared to record. with her thumbs up, she started singing, and chan couldn't help but get lost in her voice, the richness of it filling the booth. after a few takes, aurora stepped out and asked, "what do you think? was it okay?"
chan, still admiring her, nodded eagerly. "it was perfect. just like everything you do." her cheek's reddened, but she flashed him a bright smile.
"i know exactly how to produce this," he said, guiding her to sit beside him at the setup. they spent hours working, with chan explaining each step of the process while aurora watched in awe. it was all new to her, but chan patiently taught her, making the entire experience fun.
eventually, they decided to take a break. the american girl went downstairs to grab the food they ordered while chan stayed behind, engrossed in his work. so absorbed, he didn't even notice changbin entering the room.
"hyung!" changbin's voice startled him.
"changbin! you scared me," chan laughed clutching his chest.
"what are you working on?"
"a song for aurora." chan's eyes sparkled as he played a snippet for changbin.
"that's great. her voice is...incredible," changbin commented, noticing the look on his leader's face. "you look like a lovesick fool. just ask her out already."
"i can't," chan muttered. "she's leaving korea in two days, and she's still getting over her last relationship. it wouldn't work."
changbin shrugged. "that doesn't mean you shouldn't tell her how you feel. who knows? long distance can work if it's with the right person."
chan shook his head. "i'm too busy. maybe...someday, but not now."
at that moment, aurora re-entered with bags of food. "hi, changbin! we were about to eat. want to join?"
"oh, i'm good. gotta go find hyunjin." changbin smiled at her, then left, shooting chan a meaningful glance before disappearing.
"let's eat!" aurora said, sitting down with a grin. they shared stories as they ate, laughing and enjoying each other's company.
"i can't believe i'm heading back so soon," aurora sighed, realising just how much she would miss these moments. "this has been one of the best months of my life."
chan nodded, smiling. "meeting you and your dad...it's something i'll never forget."
after a quiet moment, aurora's eyes lit up. "want to do something fun?"
chan perked up, curious. "of course!"
digging through her bag, aurora pulled out sheet music. "so, my friend taylor originally wrote this song as a duet, but she didn't end up releasing it. want to sing it with me?"
"y-you want to sing with me?" chan stammered, stunned.
"obviously!" laughing, she grabbed his hand, pulling him into the booth. the recording session was full of laughter and light hearted banter, with both of them messing up lines and cracking jokes. when they finally nailed it, aurora let out a content sigh. "that was so fun."
chan grinned, raising his hand for a high-five. "we make a great team."
"what do you think about putting it on my album as a bonus track?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"i've love too! but i think we we'd need company approval..."
a voice interrupted, "no need." turning, they saw park jinyoung, the ceo himself, standing in the doorway, his arms crossed and a smile on his face. "i heard the whole thing. you two sounded fantastic."
chan's eyes widened. "how long have you been standing there?"
"long enough," jinyoung replied, amused. "and i think this duet is an excellent idea."
aurora and chan exchanged excited looks, both grinning. "well, if you're okay with it, let's do it!" she beamed, thrilled.
"then it's a plan." chan smiled, feeling like he was on cloud nine. the idea of recording an official song with aurora felt like a dream come true. one he never thought possible.
