Caitlin took a quick detour before going to Jordans to set up her new home. She had to talk to Katie, they needed to talk about what they had done, they needed to stop dancing around each other and Caitlin needed the closure to either move on or hold on to hope. Caitlin had only realised a few weeks ago that she was developing feelings for her best friend. She thought they would go away with time so she continued to put in effort with Lia but that was going no where and Katie just kept showing up. When Katie left her in her bed, Caitlin's heart broke for two reasons, one she knew she had just done the worst possible thing to Lia, and two the girl she truly loved had just left her without a single explanation.

Caitlin remembered that Katie had said during training that Ruesha would be out with her team until late. She quickly made her way to their house and marched up to the door and pounded on it.

"Cait? What are you doing here?" Katie asked baffled.

"We need to talk." Caitlin barged into her friends house, forcing Katie to turn and face her in her and her girlfriends foyer after shutting the door. Caitlin was mad, she was mad at her feelings for falling for her best friend who is in a relationship, she was mad at herself for cheating on her girlfriend but most of all she was mad because Katie, her best friend, was treating her different.

Katie sighed. "I don't know if that's the best idea." She said hesitantly.

"Katie, I don't care, we need to talk about this before I go insane."

"What do you want to talk about Cait? That we fucked? That it was good? That it never should have fucking happened? Because yeah, to all of that." Katie was starting to get mad now too.

"Please Katie." Caitlin was exhausted, her anger started to dissipate into sadness again, she felt the tears well in her eyes again. "Can we please just go back to normal? Forget it ever happened, I don't want to lose you Katie, I never have. If I knew this was going to push you away I never would have let it happen." A tear left her eye, she was quick to wipe it away in fear that she looked weak

"Cait, I have a girlfriend." Katie said in one breathe.

"I know." Caitlin took a deep breathe in. "I know Katie. So yell at me, hit me. Do anything, just don't stop being my friend."

"Why would I do that Caitlin? I kissed you first."

"Then why're you ignoring me?"

"Because I have a girlfriend Caitlin and that person isn't you. I have her to worry about, her feelings, not yours." Katie raised her voice slightly. She was starting to get annoyed with her friend for thinking that Katie could just drop everything to solve the problems in her head. Was she being selfish? Slightly, but there was a lot going on lately.

Caitlin took a moment to think about how she was going to respond. If Katie didn't want to think about her feelings or even recognise them, then she would step back. "Fine then Katie, I'll back off." She simply said then made her way past Katie and out her door.

Caitlin had left around an hour ago. As soon as she left Katie fell to the ground and cried silently. She knew she had messed up with her girlfriend and now her best friend had just walked out on her. She was heartbroken and now she was all alone. Katie didn't know why she didn't fight for Caitlin, she loved her and she wanted to be with her, but she knew she had to fix things with her girlfriend.

She heard the front door start to open meaning Ruesha was finally home. Katie quickly hurried to her feet and ran to their living room.

"Baby, I'm home!" Rue shouted.

Katie didn't answer back, too scared that her voice would crack if she did. Ruesha assumed her girlfriend would be upstairs in bed after not hearing a response but as she walked past their living and heard a small sniffle, she saw Katie trying to wipe her eyes clear.

"Katie, are you okay?"

"Rue...I need to talk to you..." Katie said quietly, knowing now was going to be the only time she had enough courage to come clean to her girlfriend.

Ruesha knew her girlfriend had been acting differently ever since they had that fight and Katie had gone out somewhere. She didn't know what happened but decided not to say anything and let Katie sort her stuff out by herself. But now, seeing Katie cry, which she very rarely did, and saying she needed to talk to her, Ruesha got scared.

Ruesha took the seat next to Katie. "Okay..." she said skeptically.

"I haven't been honest with you Rue, not lately." Katie said through tears.

Ruesha took a deep breathe in. She had a feeling she knew where this was going.

"I... I did something," Katie had trouble getting this out and couldn't look at her partner.

"No." Ruesha knew. "You didn't Katie, don't say it." She knew exactly what Katie had done.

"It just happened, I don't know how. I'm so sorry Rue." The tears were free falling now. "It was after our fight, I was caught in the moment and still frustrated with you and I just- I- I'm so so sorry Ruesha." Katie rambled out through the tears and her voice cracking.

Ruesha was sat still on the couch, she didn't know what to do, or what to say. She was shocked, she didn't ever think Katie would do anything like this to her. Were they a perfect couple? No. Were they the best people for each other? Probably not. But no matter any of that, Ruesha never thought Katie would cheat on her.

"Who was it?" Ruesha croaked out. Staring a hole into their rug on the floor.

"What?" Katie squeaked out, turning her head to look at Ruesha.

"Who was it? Who was better than me? Who was so good that you had to fucking cheat on me Katie?!" Ruesha raised her voice, looking at Katie now too.

"Ruesha, that doesn't matter, you have to know how sorry I am." Katie pleaded.

"It was Caitlin wasn't it?" Ruesha assumed.

Katie went silent, almost flabbergasted that Ruesha guessed it.

"I should have known." Ruesha scolded herself. She thought for a moment about what would have made Katie bring this up with her, why now? Then she realised that when she walked in Katie was already so upset, which means something (or someone) had to have set her off. "Oh my god, she was here wasn't she?" Ruesha realised. "Before I got home, she came here didn't she?" Ruesha had to get away from Katie. She stood up and made her way to the other side of the room.

All Katie had the power to do was sit and stare at Ruesha in awe.

"I can't believe this." Ruesha stated. She took a moment before speaking again. "You know, I knew you could be mean Katie, I knew you were stubborn and sometimes hard to love but I never knew you could be so cruel." With that Ruesha walked out of the room and out of their house. She had just left Katie and their relationship.
