A/N: It took forever to come up with the beginning, and I still feel like it's complete shit.
In the cloak of midnight's embrace, and the shadows dance with a silent hypnotizing grace. Where the whispers of the wind fill the empty Oklahoma roads, and where the moonlight sky casts an eerie glow.
When dreams feel as if they're reality, and reality becomes the very thing that you fear. You'd swear you're slipping into insanity, yet the whispers confirm it's real. And slowly, oh so subtly, the night comes creeping in making the veil between the realms increasingly thin.
And their grip on sanity is like the weight of sin. For nightmares, once confined to sleep now haunt the day, without reprieve. Their whispers louder with each breath as reality becomes their waking death. And when you wake you slowly realize that you were looking death directly in the eye. It slowly taunted you, like a pesky fly.
Until finally the insanity slips in, and you're met with the darkness you once feared screaming for you to LET IT IN!
Pressure. That's all I felt, just an enormous amount of pressure on my chest holding me down. As if I was drowning. It felt like no matter how hard I fought it didn't matter. But I kept fighting it for as long as I could until finally I broke past the surface.
I woke up gasping for breath. I instinctively reached to the side for Tyler but quickly remembered that he left early this morning. Just shake it off. Well at least that's what Tyler would say so I just need to shake it off. But I couldn't. Getting up, and quickly heading to the bathroom, I turned on the shower to be as hot as I could handle.
Then I just sat there on the floor of the tub allowing the water to pour on me while I was still fully clothed. I stayed like that for a few moments before turning the shower off, and stripping my wet clothes off. I left them in the tub, and wrapped a towel around me before heading into the room. Grabbing a change of clothes, and changing into them seemed like a difficult task but I did it anyway. I changed into a black, and red flannel with regular black skinny jeans, and then my boots.
Yet after I was changing something strange happened. As if my muscle memory my feet dragged me to my car. I don't even know where I was going but when I got in the car I just drove off. I kept going for miles until finally I saw a familiar place. My mom's farm.
When I pulled up to the farm she was out feeding the animal. I parked the car, and turned it off before jumping out of my truck. My feet hit the hard dirt ground. My mom made her way over to me, I bet she was real curious as to why I was here on a random week day at 3 in the afternoon. "Hey honey how you doing," Cathy said softly. "Honestly not that great. I came here hoping to clear my mind for some time. Would it be alright If I took Snowflake for a ride," I told her.
"Of course. I'm sure she'll be happy to see you," Cathy told me. I gave a simple nod and went to the stables. Unlocking the latch to the door caused Snowflake to lift her head. She immediately got excited. "Hey there girl. It's been a while how does a little walk sound," I spoke softly.
I could see her lip twitch, and her eyes sparkle with excitement. Her ears were pricked forward, and she pawed at the ground. I should really be visiting often, I don't want her to think that I forgot about her. She started nickering when I stepped foot into her stable. She makes her way to me slowly as she's hasn't been given the cue to go. However her excitement seems to have taken over.
