Devana followed Erik outside as he hovered in the air bringing Shaw's dead body with him. "We are the better men. This fighting is over." He threw Shaw's body away and landed next to Charles on the beach as Devana followed him.
It was then that they all noticed the ships on both sides aim their weapons toward the beach. Charles nodded to Moira who raced to the comms but got no answer. Erik and Devana could see the moment that Charles realized that Erik had been right. The humans would hunt them down and seek to destroy them.
It was then their attention was grabbed by the missiles and weapons being fired and coming toward the beach. Everyone leaned back bracing themselves but were stunned as Erik caught them in midair with almost no effort.
Devana and Charles looked at Erik as he moved his hand turning the missiles around in midair. Devana inaudible gasped as she realized what Erik was about to do. Charles realized it as well as he frantically looked at the metal-controlling mutant "Erik don't do this. There are thousands of men on those ships. Honest, innocent men." Devana watched as Erik hesitated and the missiles wavered in the air. It was when Charles continued that things went bad. "They're just following orders."
Devana winced as she knew that was the wrong thing to say especially to a Holocaust survivor. She was proven right when Erik tensed and strengthened his grip on the missiles. "I've been at the mercy of men just following orders." Erik turned to look at Charles "never again."
He looked back at the missiles and thrust his hand forward sending the missiles right back where they came from. Devana raised her hand full of energy and joined Erik pushing them towards the ships.
Charles spoke "no, Devana. Don't do it."
Devana sighed and turned to Charles "you can't stop both of us."
Charles yelled, "Devana, Erik release them."
Erik and Devana didn't which caused Charles to tackle Erik to the ground. As a result, Devana's concentration was broken and she lost her grip on the missiles. Devana found it difficult to watch as she knew neither man wanted to hurt the other. Erik slowly got up and grabbed what was left of the missiles and redirected them towards the ships.
It was then that Devana turned to the side and noticed Moira with a gun pointed at Erik. Devana quickly called a knife and launched it at Moira's hand hitting her but the bullet had already been fired. Erik deflected them all but neither powered mutant realized that they had deflected the bullet right to Charles's back.
Erik and Devana ran to Charles before Erik glanced at Moira "you did this." Devana knew that Erik was angry and it was for a multitude of reasons.
He lifted his hand and Moira's dog tags started choking her. The more she struggled the tighter the dog tags became. Charles looked at Erik "she didn't do this Erik. You did."
Erik peeled back in horror before calling for the remaining of Shaw's hellfire club who joined him. He then looked at the others "are you sure you don't want to join me." Devana shook her head along with the others except Raven who joined him.
Erik and Devana caught each other's eyes one more time. Both had tears welling up in their eyes. Erik and the others disappeared and Devana let out a breath she had no clue that she was holding. She and the others immediately ran to Charles who was repeating over and over again that he couldn't feel his legs.
When getting back to the mansion, Devana retreated to her room overwhelmed by what had happened. Charles was in a wheelchair and the American troops had fired on the people that saved their life from World War III which leaned into the notion that Erik was right. They were just going to hunt them down and treat them like monsters.
