[ Amara's ]

"Let's talk," I seriously said to Machiko when she opened the door. "Come on."

"Why didn't you just text me that you're coming?" She was nervous when she asked. May tinatago ba 'tong kumag na 'to?

"Why? Are you hiding something? A girl?" I raised my eyebrows; she just looked at me in disbelief. "What now?" I was about to speak again, but she held my hand and pulled me inside her condominium.

And I just saw a woman and a man sitting down at their dining table; she pulled me to go there.

What the fuck?

"Mom, Dad, this is Amara. Amara, these are my parents."

My eyes widened a little, and I pinched the side of her stomach. She chuckled at that, at umiwas pa nga.

"Good evening, po." I bowed a little, giving respect. Then I just plastered a genuine smile on my face as much as possible.

"Oh, hey, dear." Her mom smiled; it was a friendly smile.

"Nice to meet you, Amara," his dad said formally. "You are Machiko's?" and his eyebrows furrowed. I was about to answer, but Machiko answered instead.

"It's... It's the girl that I like, Dad, Mom. The one I told you guys about."

I looked at her in shock. She didn't even look at me; her eyes were focused on her parents. What the hell did she just do?

"Really? She's beautiful," her mother complimented, and I just smiled back.

"Ah, thank you, po, justice," I answered in the softest tone I had.

"Wow, and you know I'm a judge?" She smiled. "Machiko must've shared a lot of things about her life, huh?" She turned her look to Machiko, smiling playfully.

"Take a seat, Amara." His dad spoke, so we all sat down.

"Don't call me justice or judge, okay? Just tita nalang." Her mom was so friendly, and her dad sounded more nonchalant.

"Opo, tita," I nodded, and I noticed Machiko's small smile when I said that. I rolled my eyes at her.

Machiko gave me pieces of each food; now I just have to eat dinner. Pinilit na ako sumali sa dinner nila.

"Is this a family dinner or something?" Machiko smirked.

"I don't know about you; what did you come here for, Amara?" his dad asked.

"Oh, uh, may pag-uusapan lang naman po kami ni Machiko." I smiled at him. I kept smiling every time I answered.

"About?" Her mom chuckled.

"Mom, naman..." Machiko rolled her eyes. Wow, cute. I laughed because her mom kept teasing her about me. There were also some of their inside jokes that I didn't understand.

"What do you do for a living, Amara?" Her dad was interviewing me.

"I'm an international model and endorser in the US. I just came back to the Philippines for a break."

"How long will you be here?"

"2-3 weeks po ata, pinag-iisipan ko pa po." He nodded when I answered that.

After dinner, me and Machiko were left alone in the living room. We were awkwardly taking glances at each other.

"What are we going to talk about?" She walked closer to me, smiling a little.

"What did you say to your parents?" I raised my eyebrows.

"I told them I like someone, and it's you; isn't it too obvious?"
