Amethyst Dorothein's POV

chapter 12

Marjorie and I walked into the studio, the buzzing energy of the place instantly hitting us. My new photoshoot was for a commercial-something about a luxurious shampoo that promised to make your hair shinier than the sun. Unfortunately, it's not true.

Marjorie, my girlf and ever-dutiful assistant, was by my side, clipboard in hand, looking as serious as ever. She always looked so cute when she was in full assistant mode, brow furrowed in concentration.

"Amethyst, we need to go over the shot list," Marjorie said, tapping the clipboard for emphasis. I could see the reflection of the studio lights in her glasses, giving her an almost comically stern look.

I rolled my eyes playfully. "Opo, boss. Lead the way."

We made our way to the director, a flamboyant guy named Alcaine, who was waving his arms around and directing a group of stylists like an orchestra conductor. He spotted us and rushed over, a big smile on his face.

"Amethyst Dorothein! My darling! Are you ready to become the face of fabulous hair?" He exclaimed, giving me air kisses on both cheeks.

"Always ready for fabulousness, Cain," I replied, striking a pose that made Marjorie giggle.

"Perfect! Marjorie, dear, do we have everything we need? Paki check ang listahan baks." Alcaine asked, glancing at her clipboard.

Marjorie nodded efficiently. "Yeah, all set. Nasa dressing room na ang mga damit niya at ready na ang mga stylists."

Alcaine clapped his hands together. "Wonderful! Let's get started!"

As we walked away from Alcaine, I noticed a slight frown on Marjorie's face. "Okay ka lang?" I asked, nudging her gently.

"Yeah. . . darling," she replied, her voice trailing off.

I was about to press her further, but Alcaine called out to us, needing my attention on set. I made a mental note to ask her later

The photoshoot went smoothly, with Alcaine constantly praising my ability to capture the essence of "radiant hair." After what felt like hours of posing, smiling, and hair flipping, we were finally done. Marjorie and I stepped out of the studio, only to be greeted by a heavy rainfall outside.

"'Yong umbrella, nakalimutan ko sa car. Sorry," Marjorie groaned, looking up at the sky in dismay. She rummaged through her bag, confirming the obvious.

"It's fine, hintayin nalabg natin tumigil, kung titigil nga lang," I muttered. We stood there for a moment, considering our options, when suddenly Marjorie's face lit up.

"Wait lang!" She said and darted off towards a nearby food cart. Before I could stop her, she was back, holding a large, bright red umbrella with a logo that read "Hot dog ni Nelio."

"H-hoy Marj! You can't just take that!" I laughed, both horrified and amused.

"Eh, naka lapag lang doon! Kaya kinuha ko na! Tsaka, hindi naman siguro mababasa 'yong nga hot dog ni manong Nelio." She said defensively, though she was grinning like a child who had just gotten away with something.

"Gagi ka! Ibalik mo 'yan! Baka magalit 'yong may ari!" I insisted, though I was laughing so hard it was difficult to sound authoritative.

Reluctantly, Marjorie trudged back to the food cart, where the guy was giving us a bemused look. She handed the umbrella back, and Nelio waved it off, chuckling.
