Aria Delaney
The meeting was set for the next day. Dante's father agreed to see us at his office in the heart of the city. I could feel the tension in the air as we drove there, Nemesis following closely behind us.
We entered the building, the opulence and luxury a stark contrast to the fear that gripped my heart. Dante held my hand tightly as we were led into his father's office.
Don Ferrari sat behind a massive desk, his eyes cold and calculating. "Ah, Aria. I've heard so much about you."
I swallowed hard, standing tall. "I need answers."
He raised an eyebrow, a small smile playing on his lips. "Answers? About what, my dear?"
"About my parents. Did you kill them?"
The room fell silent, the tension palpable. Dante's grip on my hand tightened.
Don Ferrari leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable. "Your parents were... complications. Their deaths were unfortunate, but necessary."
Rage and grief surged through me. "Why? What did they do to you?"
"They got in the way of business. In this world, Aria, sacrifices must be made for the greater good."
I could feel tears burning in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. "You're a monster."
He stood, his presence intimidating. "I'm a businessman, Aria. And you're now a part of this world. You have to understand that."
Dante stepped forward, his voice shaking with anger. "You had no right!"
Don Ferrari's gaze shifted to Dante. "You're my son. Everything I do, I do for you. For our family."
Dante's face hardened. "I'm not like you."
The room was thick with tension, the air almost suffocating. I turned to leave, my heart heavy with the weight of the truth.
