Chapter Fourteen - Bugs
"I thought it'd be bigger,"
I downed another shot, eyes drifting over to Dean as he leaned over a pool table while other men stood, watching. I could only see his back, broad shoulders covered with his leather jacket.
Rock music blared loudly through the bar. I did another shot, watching as a woman stopped next to Dean, hand on his shoulder and moving across his back.
I rolled my eyes.
"Mind if I buy you a drink." A man sat down next to me, smiling.
"Who am I to turn down a free drink?" I asked, smiling back.
"I'm Mark." He held out his hand for me to shake.
"Ria," I introduced, shaking his head.
"So what brings a pretty girl like you to a bar all alone at this late hour?"
I shrugged. "A drink, maybe. It is a bar."
"Ready to go, baby doll?" I turned to see Dean, wad of cash in hand as he stopped at my side. His arm landed around my shoulder.
I sighed. "Yeah, sure. I pulled a pen from my purse and jotted my number down on Mark's hand. "Call me." I then shoved Dean's arm off of me. "Let's go."
We walked out of the bar to find Sam sitting on the hood of the car, newspaper in hand. "We could get a day job every once in a while," Sam suggested.
"How much longer will we be in town?" I asked. "Should I go get laid now or is it okay to wait for him to call?"
"We're leaving tonight," Dean told me. "Huntings our day job and the pay is crap."
"Yeah, but hustling pool? Credit card scams? It's not the most honest thing in the world, Dean," Sam argued.
"Well, let's see, honest." Dean held out one hand. "Fun and easy." He held out his other, moving them up and down as if he were weighing the two. Fun and easy won by a lot. "It's no contest. Besides, we're good at it. It's what we were raised to do."
