Chapter Twenty-Seven - The Benders
"Wow, didn't know you knew words with more than one syllable."
"I know you're just doing your job, but the police have been here three times this week already," Mrs. McKay said. "We've been through this. The more he tells the story, the more he believes it's true."
"Mrs. McKay," Sam began, lifting the hat from his head. They were currently dressed as state police. I was apparently just a trainee, who was tagging along to get a feel of working a case. "We know you spoke with the local authorities."
"But this seems like a matter for the state police, so..." Dean added.
"Don't worry about how crazy it sounds, Evan. Just tell us what you saw."
"I was up late," the boy said. "Watching TV. When I heard this weird noise."
"What did it sound like?"
"It sounded like...a monster," Evan decided.
"Tell the officers what you were watching on TV," Mrs. McKay said.
"Um...Godzilla vs. Mothra."
Dean chuckled. "That's my favorite Godzilla movie. So much better than the original, huh?"
"Totally." Evan nodded in agreement.
"I happen to think the original is better," I said, earning a look from both the boy and the thorn in my side also known as Dean Winchester.
"Even worse, he likes the remake." Dean gestured to his brother, earning a look.
"Yuck," Evan agreed.
Sam cleared his throat, glaring at Dean. He let the harsh stare drop as he looked back at the boy. "Evan, did you see what this thing was?"
"No. But I saw it grab Mr. Jenkins and pull him underneath the car."
"Then what?"
"It took him away. I heard the monster leaving. It made this really scary sound."
"What'd it sound like?" I asked.
