Dark hair gently blew in the soft wind as the boy glanced at his phone. He finished texting his family before slipping around a group of people. One chirped up.

"You still saying we're your friends?"

"You still telling people I don't have any?" They chuckled as the girl of the group frowned.

"We're not your friends."

"Well, I want people to stop asking me to be theirs. So unless you can name another group of people I know and can trust with even the title, please be considerate."

"You trust us?"

"I have to graduate with you people. I think that says enough." He then closed his locker that he had opened before heading out of the school.

Arriving at home, he closed the door, locked it, before going to his room. Again, closed and locked the door before he scanned the room. He then closed the curtains, making sure there was almost no light in the room. He then lit a candle before going over to a computer. Turning it on, he tapped a few things before turning the screen off, leaving the computer running. He then moved over to the bed, placing the candle on the nightstand before getting a machine on his head. He laid down and sighed.

"Link Start."

He opened his eyes, scanning his surroundings. Right. The dungeon he was last in. He pulled his sword out before racing forward, scouting the area. Thoughts clouded his head instantly.

Did that girl really mean it? She had said she would be here farming- Oh, I hope not.

He slowed as he found mobs. No one was here. Yet. He raced forward, sword cutting down mobs in record speed. He lost track of time before a notification popped up. Time.

~

He sighed as he left the school. Today was the day the full game came out. Finally. Something to focus on for a while. He got home after he texted his family before setting up his gaming setup.

"Link Start."

He scanned the area, noting that he was placed back on the first floor. To be expected. He slipped out of the safe center and started moving.

No doubt will the mobs be tiny. No matter. I'll pretend I have no idea what I'm doing to hide.

That didn't exactly work out since most of the people who were joining the official game didn't know what they were doing. He finally gave in and showed off a bit, quickly taking out a few lower mobs like they were nothing. Of course, that grabbed people's attention and they attempted to befriend him. He hesitated before someone grabbed his arm and pulled him away from the swarm.

"Some distance, will ya!" He turned to see a male avatar that was about as tall as his avatar was. "Some people prefer to work alone, so keep that in mind before you swarm the experienced members." The darker boy stayed quiet as the male pulled him a safe distance from the swarm and let go of his arm. "All good?" He nodded.

"Yeah... thanks... you didn't need to-" The other man waved the problem off.

"I watched you go pale the second they swarmed you. I figured that you were planning on going solo, so I decided to help you stay that way. Well... as best as you can." He then smiled. "Klein. You don't need to consider me as a friend, but I have a suggestion. You'll want to go solo, but I'm gonna try and build the biggest team in the game. How about we form an alliance so that I can keep my team and others away from you?" The darker male paused before smiling.
