The repetitive beeping of the bar code scanner echoed in Ceyane's ears as her brown orbs continued to anxiously dart back and forth between the lime green numbers displayed on the screen and the crumpled bills in her dominant hand.

Her hope was that the total wouldn't be anything over $50, because that was all she could spare towards groceries at the moment.

Unable to shop at Walmart or Trader Joe's as she usually preferred to, Aldi had become her best friend. They always came in clutch with good deals and prices that she could actually afford.

"Okay, it'll be $48.92." The cashier told her once the final item had been scanned. Blowing out a small breath of relief, Ceyane handed her two twenties and a ten. Once she was given her change and a receipt back, she thanked the young girl that looked to be seventeen or eighteen.

Ceyane took two minutes or so to bag her items up and place them in the cart, since Aldi shoppers were responsible for bagging their own items, before heading outside. She returned the cart to the designated area and carried her bags to her vehicle.

Unlocking the trunk, she sat them inside before shutting the top closed. In the distance, faint sounds of laughter and screams of joy could be heard. Ceyane averted her attention across from where she was standing, noticing that there was a park on the other side of the street.

Kids ranging from pre-school to pre-teen age were running, playing, and enjoying the carefree benefits of childhood. Oh how she missed when she was in the same position, not having to stress about adulting and life in general.

Being that it was still early afternoon on a Wednesday, she was puzzled as to why so many children were present.

Then, it dawned on her that most school districts were currently out for Spring Break. Which meant that parents were trying to find any and everything to keep their kids occupied while on the small hiatus.

Suddenly, a cartoon-ish melody erupted into the air. One that sounded familiar and nostalgic. Turning her head, Ceyane curiously searched for where it was coming from.
