Chapter 8

They're eating lunch when the doorbell rang. Tumayo siya para silipin ang bagong dating na kakapasok lang. It's her brother.

Muli siyang bumalik sa kusina at kumuha ng plato at kutsara.

"Who's that?" Frigus asked.

"Si Kuya." Kalmadong sagot niya.

Frigus shifted on his seat. Napaubo ito at bakas ang panic sa mata.

"Hindi ba ako magtatago? Are you not afraid?" Frigus asked.

Kinunotan niya ito ng noo. Nanatiling kalmado.

"Bakit naman?" Nagtatakang tanong niya.

"Because your brother's here and I'm here, too."

Oo nga. Nandito ang Kuya niya at si Frigus. Ano naman?

"Alam ko. Obvious naman, Attorney."

Mas lalo lang kumunot ang noo ni Frigus.

"Is he not strict? He might not like me I'm not funny." Frigus asked. Hindi pa rin mapalagay.

"Hindi ka talaga magugustuhan ni Kuya kasi kasal na siya at hindi siya pumapatol ng lalaki. At strict? Frigus, I'm 31, hindi na ako teenager. At isa pa hindi naman kita boyfriend---"

"Hello, did I interrupt something?" Her brother entered the dining hall.

Ngumiti siya dito at sinalubong ito ng yakap. Kuya Cameron laughed and tapped her back. Naghiwalay sila ng yakap.

"Let's eat. I already get you a plate." Aya niya.

Kuya Cam looked at Frigus. Nagulat ang Doktor ng makita ang kilalang Abogado sa hapagkainan.

"Kuya, si Attorney Frigus Benjamin. Frigus, si Doctor Cameron Falcon." Pagpapakilala niya sa dalawa.

Tumayo si Frigus at nakipagkamay sa kuya niya. Her brother smiled at the attorney. Mabait naman kuya niya, hindi niya alam kung para saan ang panic ni Frigus.

"Bigatin ang bagong kaibigan mo, Chame." Sabi ng Kuya niya at umupo sa tabi niya.

She chuckled. Nagkatinginan sila ni Frigus. Lumipat naman ang tingin ni Frigus sa Kuya niya.

"You did not suspect that I could be your sister's lover?" He asked.

Kuya Cam froze for a second before he burst out laughing. Ang tawa ng Kuya niya parang bentang-benta talaga ang joke. Pati siya ay natatawa nga pero sana last joke na 'yon ni Attorney.

"I didn't expect that you can be a good comedian, Attorney. You got me there." Kuya Cam said while still laughing.

Frigus sighed as his lips form into thin line.

"I don't know if that's a compliment or an insult but I'll take the first one for my peace." Frigus said.

"Well, I would know if you're her lover because we had an agreement. She'll call me first if she fall in love but so far, I didn't receive a call for that matter." Her brother smiled.

Frigus nodded.

"Is that so?"

"Yeah. Why? You want an agreement between us? You can call me if you fell in love with my sister." Kuya Cameron smirked.

Natawa siya sa hirit ng Kuya niya.

"He doesn't have your number, Kuya. Hindi 'yan tatawag." Natatawang sabi niya.

Frigus get his phone from his pocket. Bumagal ang pagnguya niya sa ginawa nito. His brother smirked. Looks satisfied.

"I need your number." Seryosong sabi ni Frigus at binigay ang phone nito sa Kuya niya.
