"I'm sorry I lied about where I was working, Nee-san," Yuri said after telling Yor everything about the SSS. His head hung low as he felt that he betrayed his big sister, who did everything to give him everything he needed. Guilt was the primary emotion he was feeling at the moment.
His big sister loved him so much that she entered this kind of job just for him.
The two siblings were left alone inside the control room to talk and settle things down, seeing that both had been living a double life. A dangerous one at that.
Yor only chuckled at her brother and patted him on the head. The action made Yuri look at his sister in slight confusion, "What are you talking about? If someone needs to apologize, it's me. Your job is very noble compared to... you know."
"At first, I thought it was noble. But looking at what's happening now..."
"So, you're also after the Desmonds, huh?"
"Yeah. However, we have two very different leads in this case."
Yor's brows furrowed. "What do you mean?"
"Rose told me you guys are focused on that kid (Y/N), right? And her brothers? While it's very obvious that they're the hottest evidence we have now... I think a cold case might put the pieces of the puzzle together."
"And that is?"
"Laura Mitchell. She has a daughter, Lori Hastings. However, in the files I stole, it appears that Lori has a secret twin named Lucas."
"Lucas... that's the boy in the hijacking case, right?"
"Yeah. That's why my next step is to locate Twilight and form some kind of deal with him."
Yor froze at the mention of the name, her mind flashing back to the sudden confrontation on the ship. Twilight— a name synonymous with shadows and secrets, a master spy. Her husband. Her chest tightened as she recalled the intensity of their encounter, the tension that had hung in the air like a thick fog.
"Twilight?" she echoed, her voice barely a whisper. "Why would you need to make a deal with him?"
Yuri hesitated, noticing the shift in Yor's demeanor. "Twilight has access to information that no one else can get. He's been investigating the Desmonds, too, but from a different angle. If we can share intel, we might finally crack this case wide open. Plus, he has Lucas on his side."
Yor nodded slowly, still processing the information. Right, she still has to settle with that situation. At some point, they still have to face each other.
Noticing his sister's sudden silence, Yuri asked: "Did something happen?"
"You actually already met him."
"Who?"
"Twilight?"
Yor nodded.
"I don't understand."
"Does my current last name ring a bell to you?"
Yuri's eyes widened.
The next day, after revealing every single detail they knew to each other, Yuri and Yor called Lotus, and Luthor to the control room to break their course of action and to share crucial details they had gathered during their respective assignments.
"Sorry for being late, I tried to stop her from coming with me but she was adamant about being part of this. I hope it's okay?" Luthor explained while pulling a chair for his sister who only smiled at him as she took her seat.
"So they're the siblings you mentioned?" Yuri asked, looking at Yor.
"Yeah."
"Whoa, this mission is full of siblings huh?" Lotus muttered which earned him a nudge from Yor.
