Yor sat in their apartment quietly while Loid made them drinks. She wasn't looking at anything in particular, just on her lap where her hands fiddled with each other.
The couple decided to continue their unexpected meetup inside, to settle things between them. From being carefree in each other's presence, the two now find it hard to look at each other without countless questions popping into their minds, forcibly trying to open their mouth to ask for the answers.
But those questions weren't needed now.
Missions shouldn't involve feelings especially if they're possibly unwanted.
Or so they thought.
Loid placed a platter of biscuits and fruits on the table, next to the cups of tea he had placed first. He sat opposite the couch Yor was on.
"So..." Loid started. "How are you? You didn't have any injuries?"
Finally, the assassin looked up from her lap. "No, I'm fine. How about you? I didn't hit you that hard, right?"
The spy winced at her statement, reminiscing about getting kicked and punched by Yor. His reaction made Yor chuckle lightly. "Now I know why you're supernaturally strong."
"Wait, you didn't have any suspicion? At all?" Yor asked in disbelief. "I think I mostly failed to hide my strength."
"Yeah, I had no idea."
"Aren't spies supposed to be super duper smart? I'm starting to doubt that," Yor joked.
The two laughed, and the tense atmosphere disappeared. Yor and Loid continued to talk as normal citizens—none of that assassin and spy titles. It was just them inside their shared apartment in Park Avenue. The couple then found themselves comfortably sharing the details about their secret life, their history, and the information they had gathered.
It was nearly nighttime when they finished talking.
"I can? Really?" Yor asked, her voice getting higher as she spoke those words. Her smile stretched even more when Loid nodded in agreement. "Ooh, I wonder what a spy's headquarters looks like."
"Trust me, the place mostly looks boring."
"I doubt that. Can I sleep there, too? You know, with Anya," she asked, hopefully.
"Of course. You're my wife after all."
As the two walked into the night, silence enveloped their atmosphere. It wasn't awkward nor was it tense. The two were merely enjoying each other's company, trying to wave off their responsibilities to the world. However, the two found themselves failing as their minds raced to the new information they had acquired from one another.
Now, my question last night has been answered. If Lucas hadn't pulled out of the mission, I would've died because he is the cause of it. But, as Yor said, there are multiple cases to the scenario as long as there is no sufficient evidence to the mystery. Even so, Lucas and Lori can't be trusted fully.
But... If Laura Mitchell and her family were really part of the whole scheme, then that meant it was Lucas who killed me in Anya's vision. And that's why Anya said she didn't like Lucas that morning.
Now, if we can't trust Lucas and Lori, then the only dependable siblings are (Y/N), Nicholas, and Sam. And they all just have to disappear from our radar.
Just great.
Loid suddenly stopped in realization.
"Loid? Are you okay?" Yor asked, also stopping to snap Loid out of it.
