Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: "Two words are light on the tongue, weigh heavily in the balance, and are loved by the Most Merciful One is: "Subhaanal-laahi wa bihamdihi, Subhaanal-laahil-'Adheem.
Glorified is Allah and praised is He, Glorified is Allah the Most Great"
One Year laterTime flies, it's already been a year since I moved to the UK. Life hasn't been better, but Alhamdulillah, I'm still standing. After a three-month therapy session, I got tired of going in and out of the hospital because it wasn't helping, and I wasn't ready to open up. So, I ended the sessions.
A lot has happened recently. Amir has surprisingly stopped acting indecently towards me, he even apologized for what he did in the past, and we're now good friends and I've started my Master's degree in Psychotherapy at Cambridge.
As I walked out of the lecture hall after two hour session, I waved to some of my course mates.
"Eshma, can I swing by your place on Sunday to grab that textbook" Emily asked with her thick British accent
"Sure thing, what time were you thinking" I replied with a small smile
"I'm not sure yet, I'll hit the library after church and come over afterward," she said
"Can you come by before the library, I need to return some books," I asked
"Okay, sounds good," she said
"See you soon!" I waved walked towards the parking lot, I saw Amir's car waiting for me, as usual, he made it to his self to drop me and pick me up
"Hey, cuz" he said with a wide grin
"What's up, dude" I replied, rolling my eyes. I opened the back door, tossed my bag and laptop inside, and hopped into the passenger seat
"You got an admirer today," Amir said, trying to stifle a laugh
"Uh-huh," I replied nonchalantly, opening the glove compartment to grab a pack of gummy bears
"So, tell me about him," Amir said, starting the car, I put on my seatbelt before he hit the road
"Trust me, you don't want to hear about him," I said, recalling my encounter with the said admirer.
A guy tapped me on the shoulder to get my attention.
"Hey, beautiful," he said, his voice trembling, I raised an eyebrow, intrigued
"Uh, hi. We've been in Anatomy class together, right" he said, his face flushed
"And...?" I prompted, my expression neutral.
"I-I've developed feelings for you since the first day I saw you, uh hmm Like, love at first sight," he stammered, scratching his head nervously
"Uh huh." "I was wondering if you'd like to be my girlfriend" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
I raised an eyebrow, taken aback by his forwardness
"That's it?" I asked, trying to hide my amusement. He nodded, looking embarrassed. I rolled my eyes good-naturedly and walked past him, leaving him standing there, looking flustered. The group of students nearby burst out laughing, with some imitating his awkward confession.
Amir burst out laughing as I recounted the story of Faisal's awkward confession
"Dude, that's epic!" he chuckled, shaking his head. "Love at first sight, huh, More like love at first embarrassment"
