Why would a cat suddenly pop up inside this building? And such a large maine coon, why does it seem like no one notices it?

Qin An looked at the ignorant Shen Lou and looked down again. Even if he denies it, it could not cover up the fact that he was really seeing it right.

A cat.

Besides, it's not just a cat. Qin An clearly saw it came from the black shadow following the young man.

And in this case, was this a similar situation of what had always happened in his previous life? A black shadow... This is clearly the soul of a resentment.

But how could it be? A resentment will only come out from a dead being who died unfairly and without justice. This is born from the soul of a living thing. Other than that, since when did this era have souls in the first place?!

Qin An met the golden vertical pupil of the cat and they stared for a while until Shen Lou coughed lightly.

"Is there a problem?"

He came back to his senses and saw the confusion in his eyes as he also subconsciously looked down below him. But seeing the ignorance on his face, Qin An knew he had no way to explain what he's seeing. So he pretended that he didn't act weird and asked Shen Lou.

"Are you going back too?"

That question diverted Shen Lou's attention and turned his head back on him. He nodded.

"Well, let's go together."

"Okay."

As the two walk back towards the practice room, Qin An still tries not to look down even if he could feel the glances of the cat on him. It seems that he caught its attention because he can see him? But Qin An didn't know how to deal with it anymore.

If it were in the past, animals are way more easier than humans to guide. Because they will only act on their instinct to protect themselves boldly and leave without too many regrets unlike the humans who had too much drama to handle. Sometimes, domesticated animals are harder to handle because they are not willing to leave their owners and because they only think with their instinct, they are harder to convince.

Qin An had also guided an animal. It was an army dog who died after saving a soldier. Even after it died, it wouldn't leave and was always guarding its owner. Because its instinct was to guard and  it was trained, they are harder and longer to convince. Tamed animals like them are more loyal than anybody else.

So seeing a pet beside Shen Lou, other than being helpless about seeing a soul in this world, he's also worried. If a soul doesn't have any resentment towards them, they will not harm anybody and will just naturally dissipate if they wouldn't be guided towards the underworld. Most of these are the souls who died due to sickness and older people.

Whereas for souls who died for various reasons, they harbor resentments that will influence the people around them. Even if they don't have ill intention, the resentment due to the unwillingness to die will eventually become a negative energy that will influence others around them.

And looking back at those days, Qin An knew the answer why Shen Lou is easy to get irritated with. Because of this soul around him, he was unstable unlike the Shen Lou that he'd seen during those performances.

Out of instinct as a former grim reaper, Qin An automatically thought about solving this, however, he paused because only he realized that he's a human now. This era doesn't have other worlds. They don't have souls and they don't believe it anymore.

They believe that if someone dies, they will naturally disappear forever just like what science explains. Other than that, Qin An no longer has the ability. Other than his experienced and natural skills, he can no longer summon the gate of the underworld nor have a spiritual energy to remove the resentment around the cat.
