"The killer had gone on a complete rampage. Today we found 22 bodies in the lake, all decapitated. Now the serial killer has killed 54 people. It's only been a couple days." Blake said while pacing around the living room.
54 people killed in a matter of days. Impressive.
How did they even have the time and energy to be able to do that? "How did they get there? Isn't it blocked off?" Zadie asked confused. "Exactly, how are more bodies getting in if it's restricted? We even found some decapitated people in their homes." Blake said walking back and forth in front of the television.
"Was there a murder weapon?" She asked out of pure curiosity. "No." He quickly said. Blake let out a sigh of irritation. "Impressive, isn't it?" Zadie heard a soft whisper say. "Indeed it is quite, intriguing." Zadie said to Blake. "What?" Blake asked, furrowing his eyebrows. "Didn't you say something?" Blake shook his head no. "Guess I heard something in my head." She said. "Or I heard a certain ghost." Zadie whispered quiet enough to where Blake couldn't hear her. Blake's phone started to ring. He talked on the phone a bit, after he hung up he was about to say something when Zadie cut him off.
"Hey I-." He started. "Gotta go into the office. I know. And might I add, you have been doing great with protecting me." She finished his sentence with a smile. "I'm sorry, just this is important." Blake said apologetically. "I'm only joking, go. Blake smiled at Zadie before heading out the door. Zadie felt alone when he left, well she wasn't exactly alone.
She technically had Marilyn.
Something crossed Zadie's mind. She needed a job, but what job? She could maybe look online. She grabbed her computer she opened it. Shit, she forgot her password. I mean she did like the black lake, perhaps she made it her password. Of course it was, god, she was so dumb as a child.
Not dumber than Blake. She kept searching online for a position. But there was nothing she liked. I mean, she could maybe talk the police to offer her a job. I mean she loved watching true crime, she would always solve it first. And plus she already had the proper education in school. So why not?
She thought she might go to the station instead of calling. She put on some leggings, a black sweater and a long jacket. She put her hair down since it was going into winter now.
She put on her black boots, like always, and headed out the door.
Once she got into the station she went to the front desk. "Hi, I was wondering if I could possibly apply here for a job?" Zadie said to the officer at the desk. "What?" The officer questioned. "You know you're supposed to sign up for an interview, right? And you need training." The officer said. "I know, but please just ask me something. I really want this job." Zadie was desperate. The officer let out a big sigh. "Name?" The officer asked about to type in his computer. "Zadie White." He typed her name in and it showed her profile.
"Let me get this straight, you're eighteen, didn't have the right education but you think you can get this job?" The officer chuckled. Zadie sighed. At least she tried, she was about to walk away when the officer spoke again.
"Wait. Most of your grades were the top of the class, you haven't got in trouble with the law, not even once." After the officer thought a bit he spoke again. "Fine, you can work as an officer. But, you may not do anything major. Don't make me regret this. Understood?"
Zadie had gotten the job that easily, wow talk about desperate. "Thank you, and yes I truly understand. When do I start?" Zadie asked. "As soon as possible. The crime scene is being taken place at the black lake. They're trying to see if there are more bodies." The officer even gave her a spare police badge, Zadie quickly grabbed and walked out.
Wow for all they knew she could have been the killer. Wow, the police must have gotten stupid while she was gone. Zadie was probably smarter than all of the police officers combined.
She quickly sprinted to the scene, oh god what was she to tell Blake. Even worse she had to spend more time with Blake. She didn't really think this through very well, did she? Well the crime ain't gonna solve itself.
She made it, the black lake. There were at least twelve ambulances and twenty five cop cars. Wow, that the most cop cars and ambulances I've seen in one spot, especially a lake.
She showed the officer her badge and let her pass through. Wow that was extremely dumb. No wonder they weren't getting anywhere.
"16 bodies found, wait who are you?" Asked an officer. "I'm the new officer, only for now." She answered. She knew she was going to lose this job, but she also knew she was going to get closer to solving this case than these dumbasses. "So, they have killed about 70 people in a matter of days?" Zadie asked. "Exactly, some even killed in their homes. But it's the same, they're decapitated, and always wore a hospital gown. Which is odd."
Yeah it's odd, yeah no shit Sherlock. God why did she sign up for this job, everyone had no brain cells. How did they even make it this far in life?
Zadie went to the dock and looks down trying to see something. "Get me down there." She said demandingly. It might be major, but the officer never specified what major was. She took off her jacket and the officer gave her a
Breathing tube and some goggles. "Zadie? What are you doing here?" She heard Blake say as she was putting on her stuff."Solving a case you can't seem to solve." Zadie dived into the water. It was freezing, but honestly what did she expect. For it to be like a hot shower. She swam near the bottom of the lake. It was smart to kill people and dump them here. The water was cold, therefore it removed fingerprints.
They had already taken out the bodies. She kept searching for something useful. Something to find out what happened. She came across a white towel with blood stains, it was on top of a big rock. Just, sitting there. She picked it up, she could use this for DNA. It wasn't much but it was a start.
She went up to the dock and sat on it. She quickly took off her gear as Blake and a couple other officers put towels around her. She handed it to one of the chiefs. "I found that, maybe it's something, maybe it's nothing." She said giving the blood stains towel to him and walking away. She grabbed her coat and decided to head home and shower. She was literally freezing her ass off.
"Officer White, before you go here." The officer yelled as he handed her some photos of the victims. "Thank you." Zadie said before returning her rout back home.
