Daemon dead, the valryon fleet joined the greyjoy fleet, the north and south were marching on Dragonstone and the capital. Avalon was going to win there was no losing.Aegon had suffered from burns that covered half his body, a broken hip, and numerous broken ribs. His armor had melted into his left arm, and it would take him what felt like forever to recover. He hated being so weak and vulnerable, his mind was clouded by milk of the poppy, causing him to sleep nine hours out of every ten. He could barely keep his eyes open past the pain.
He did not rise from his bed for moons and some say he prayed for his death. Only his mother, larys and maeve were allowed to disturb his rest.
Maeve peered in kissing his forehead. He whispered an I'm sorry into the darkness as she left.
"My mothers men won't hurt me." Maeve corrected when Larys wanted to get her out.
"And what of your aunt avalon's men?" larys questioned. "Let me get you and your children safe."
"Take Aegon if you wish but I'm not leaving" Maeve countered defiantly. "My family won't hurt me."
It was Lord Larys who spirited the king out of the city when the queen's dragons first appeared in the skies above King's Landing.
Larys knew he had to get the king out of the city So as not to pass through any of the city gates, where they might be seen and remembered, Larys led them out through some secret passage of Maegor the Cruel.
It was Lord Larys who decreed the fugitives should part company as well, so that even if one were taken, the others might win free.
Aegon felt despicable. Only Larys himself knew that the king, stripped of his finery and clad in a salt-stained fisherman's cloak, had been concealed amongst a load of codfish on a fishing skiff in the care of a bastard knight with kin on Dragonstone.
"Stay quiet my king," Henry requested of Aegon. "You will be there in two days time." He held out a vial of poppy. "Lord Larys gave me enough to last you a while." Aegon drank it down.
"I hate this, look at me. I'm a king." He rasped. "My own wife couldn't look at me..."
"And the traitor marched on your castle, you are not strong enough, your brother ran off to try and track down a dead daemon. You know they will never suspect you here."
"We found the princess." Ser lorent said and maeve pulled from him running to her mother.
"When i saw syrax flying overhead i rejoiced!" Maeve declared as she sobbed into her mother.
"Have they hurt you? Where are aegon and aemond?" Rhaenyra demanded.
"Fled."
"The castle is secure, no sign of the traitor king and his children." Rhaenyra scowled, she would never truly get her claim on the throne when others were still fighting for Aegon. When others were fighting for avalon. She needed them found and killed.
Aegons army was all but defeated but Avalons army was ready to conquer.
Rhaenyra sent men hunting after Aegon...but a boat leaves no trail upon the waves, and few hunters would ever think to look for Aegon on his sister's own island, in the very shadow of her stronghold.
Rhaenyra knew too well that the sea offered an escape. They would be searching in all the wrong places for years while Aegon hoped to gain his strength.
"Your sister has moved on the capital." Davina remarked.
"I know.' Avalon whispered. "Tyler said the riverlands are ours. She can have the castle but she doesnt have much else."
"Good girl." Davina agreed.
"I know where aegon went." Robbie remarked. Davina ran to him.
"My baby is home!" She declared.
"I like high garden." Robbie chuckled. "But i have friends in low places and-" he held out the scroll. "Larys wrote. Wants Avalon on the throne. Knows where aegon went because he sent him there."
"Let's set a trap." Vaera decided. "Two spiders one dragon."
"What happened to two birds-"
"I love birds why would i hurt birds." Vaera countered.
"How to get rhaenyra to dragonstone?"
"Send her an anonymous Raven. She will be the one to take the bait." Tyler assured wrapping his arms around Avalon.
"Whose work is this?" Rhaenyra questioned. "We must thank him."
"Sister," Aegon called down from a balcony. Unable to walk, or even stand, he had been carried there in a chair. The hip shattered at Rook's Rest had left Aegon bent and twisted, his once-handsome features had grown puffy from milk of the poppy, and burn scars covered half his body yet he was still fighting to stay on top. Rhaenyra knew him at once, Rhaenyra scowled up at him
"Dear brother. I had hoped that you were dead." Rhaenyra called up.
"After you," Aegon answered. "You are the elder." he countered.
"I am pleased to know that you remember that," Rhaenyra answered moving forward. "It would seem we are your prisoners... but do not think that you will hold us long. My leal lords will find me.""There they are." Avalon whispered.
"Game plan?" Davina questioned
"Dracarys." Robbie suggested
"No. I want to try and make them see reason. Our armies are larger and stronger. We have the upper hand." Avalon corrected
"If they search the seven hells, mayhaps," Aegon answered. Rhaenyra tensed as men flocked them. Aeron and Jensen were quick to draw their swords. None of the other knights and lords present in the yard spoke a word of protest as King Aegon delivered his half-sister to his dragon.Sunfyre, did not seem at first to take any interest in the offering of Rhaenyra, until Broome pricked the queen's breast with his dagger. Rhaenyra flinched back at the sting. The smell of blood roused the dragon, who sniffed at Rhaenyra, then bathed her in a blast of flame, so suddenly that Ser Alfred's cloak caught fire as he leapt away. Avalon gasped.
Rhaenyra had time to raise her head toward the sky and shriek out one last curse upon her half-brother before Sunfyre's jaws closed round her, tearing off her arm and shoulder. sunfyre's fire was like a furnace before he swallowed Rhaenyra, leaving only her leg as a reminder the golden dragon devoured the queen in six bites.
Avalon was speechless for a good minute before she turned to Davina.
"Davina... end this" avalon commanded as sunfyre ate her sister.
"Angos."
