(Third Person POV)

Toothless immediately takes to the sky, his wings flapping as fast as possible. While Val is having fun with all of this, Astrid is screaming for her life. She holds onto the saddle and leans back, almost on the verge of falling off.

"Toothless! What is wrong with you? Bad dragon!" Hiccup shouts as Astrid holds onto his shoulders.

Once steady and above the clouds, Hiccup gives her a sheepish laugh. "He's not usually like this." His expression changes to one of worry when he feels Toothless tilt. "Oh, no," he mutters.

Toothless closes his wings and the four of them free-fall toward the ocean, with Astrid screaming once again. Before hitting the water, Toothless spreads his wings and flies along the surface, splashing against it every few seconds.

Throughout the whole thing, Val has her arms extended out as if pretending she is the one flying.

"Toothless, what are you doing? We need her to like us!" Hiccup shouts to his dragon.

Unfortunately, Toothless doesn't listen and changes his tactics. He flies higher into the sky and free-falls as he spins rapidly.

"And now he's spinning," Hiccup says sarcastically. "Thank you for nothing, you useless reptile."

Already overwhelmed with all of this chaos, Astrid tightens her hold on Hiccup, leaning against his back to keep from getting dizzy. "Okay, I am sorry! I'm sorry! Just get me off of this thing."

Toothless glances up at Astrid, taking notice of her apology. Not a moment later, he spreads his wings and flies upright in a more gentler manner.

They now fly through the clouds, and Astrid looks up at her surroundings in awe. She sits up straighter and is less tense than how she was a minute ago. Looking up at the soft clouds above, she lifts her arm and flows her hand through it, a smile now on her face.

Toothless continues to fly through the clouds, and the sun has already set below the horizon. Now above the clouds, the northern lights fill the sky with bright colors. Astrid, Hiccup, and Val stare up at the beautiful sight.

They fly closer to land and find their village right below them. They fly along the pillars of rock before going higher once again.

Astrid looks around her before saying, "All right, I admit it. This is pretty cool. It's amazing." She then averts her eyes to Toothless and Val. "They're amazing," she adds before patting Toothless' side.

There's a moment of silence before Astrid speaks up, now looking at Hiccup. "So what now?"

Hiccup only sighs, not wanting to think about that question.

"Hiccup, your final exam is tomorrow. You know you'll have to kill--" Astrid cuts herself off, knowing that Toothless and Val are able to hear her. "...kill a dragon," she whispers to him.

"Don't remind me," Hiccup mutters with worry in his voice.

However, Toothless and Val are focused on something else only they can hear. Their ears perk up and their eyes scan around the foggy area on high alert. Out of nowhere, Toothless dives down closer to the water.

"Toothless, what's happening?" Hiccup questions, to which the Night Fury doesn't respond. "What is it?"

Through the fog, a Monstrous Nightmare flies beside them holding a large fish in its claws. Then there is a Nadder on the other side of Toothless.

"Get down," Hiccup whispers as he and Astrid lean down closer to Toothless.

More roars and growls are heard as more dragons appear, all flying somewhere with food. But it is unknown to Hiccup, Astrid, and Val as to where specifically they are going.

"What's going on?" Astrid asks.

"I don't know," Hiccup responds. "Toothless, you gotta get us out of here, bud."

Toothless shakes his head with a low growl, ignoring his request and moving along with the other dragons.

Hiccup takes a look at most of them and what they are carrying with them. "It looks like they're hauling in their kill."

"Uh, what does that make us?" Astrid asks nervously.

Toothless and the other dragons fly by pillars of rock before entering a cave. They eventually reach an opening where many dragons reside, with a large pit filled with smoke. Toothless and Val's eyes dart around at the new setting.

"What my dad wouldn't give to find this," Hiccup mutters in surprise.

Finding a spot on a ledge, Toothless lands there and releases Val so she can look around as she pleases. That's when they notice the dragons dropping the food they are carrying into the pit. "Oh, it's satisfying to know that all of our food has been dumped down a hole," Hiccup says sarcastically.

"They're not eating any of it," Astrid adds.

Val looks around at the rest of the dragons sitting around. She senses the tension in the air, and that concerns her. "Afraid," she says worryingly.

"What?" Hiccup asks as he glances at her.

Just then, a Gronckle hovers above the pit and drops a tiny fish down into the smoke. Not a second later, a loud growl erupts from the pit. And before the Gronckle can fly away, a large dragon rises from the smoke and eats the dragon whole.

Hiccup gasps and Astrid whispers, "What is that?"

That is when the large dragon spots Toothless and the others hiding on the ledge. So without hesitation, Hiccup says, "All right, bud, we got to get out of here...now!"

Toothless grabs a hold of Val like before and takes flight, escaping out of the clearing above with the rest of the dragons right as the dragon is about to snatch them with its teeth.

The four of them make it back to the cove, and Toothless lands by the lake safely.

"It totally makes sense," Astrid says to Hiccup. "It's like a giant beehive. They're the workers and that's their queen. It controls them. Let's find your dad." She climbs off of Toothless and starts to head back to the village.

But Hiccup jumps off and stands in front of her. "No, no, not yet. They'll kill Toothless...and Val," he tries to reason. "Astrid, we have to think this through carefully."

"Hiccup, we just discovered the dragons' nest, the thing we've been after since Vikings first sailed here, and you want to keep it a secret?" Astrid asks, staring at him in disbelief. "To protect your pet dragon and half-dragon friend? Are you serious?"

Hiccup stares at her with a confident look in his eyes, something no one has seen from him ever in his life. "Yes."

Astrid remains quiet, trying to think of a possible solution. "Okay. Then what do we do?"

"Just give me until tomorrow. I'll figure something out," Hiccup says, looking over at Toothless and Val, who are drinking water at the lake.

"Okay," Astrid says before punching his arm. "That's for kidnapping me." Before Hiccup can say anything, she kisses his cheek. "That's for everything else." Leaving it at that, she walks away from him.

Hiccup stares, almost in a daze as he watches her leave. Val walks over with a smirk on her face and nudges his arm. He feels her nudge and stares down at her before saying, "What are you looking at?"

Val chuckles to herself before walking back to where Toothless is.
