──────── ⋆⭒˚。⋆the band had been looking forward to this meeting with simon for weeks. we'd been working tirelessly on our new material and were eager to hear about any updates or changes.
today was supposed to be about discussing our third album, but simon had mentioned something about a special guest joining us, which piqued our curiosity.
when we walked into the meeting room, the first thing that struck me was the girl sitting at the large conference table.
my heart skipped a beat as i noticed her. she looked remarkably like me, with the same shape of eyes and similar hair. for a split second, i was thrown off balance, feeling a strange mix of surprise and intrigue. i forced a smile, trying to appear casual as i greeted everyone.
simon stood up and greeted us with his usual enthusiasm. "hello, everyone! i'm glad you could make it. this is ciara lime, a talented songwriter who will be working with us on our third album. ciara, this is the band."
ciara looked up and smiled warmly. her eyes had a friendly sparkle, and there was an air of ease about her that instantly made me feel more comfortable. "hi everyone. it's great to meet you all."
i took a deep breath and tried to shake off the strange feeling of deja vu that seeing her had triggered. "hi, ciara. i'm amélie. it's nice to meet you too."
the band members introduced themselves one by one. harry, who was never reserved, kept his head down, refusing to make eye contact with anyone.
it was unusual for him to be so detached, and i couldn't help but feel a little concerned. i chose to brush it off for now and blame it on the accident that had shaken him up. i focused on the task at hand.
simon began explaining that ciara would be collaborating with us on our third album, a project we were all excited about. "ciara has an incredible talent for songwriting," simon said. "she's worked with some amazing artists and has a knack for creating hits. i'm confident she'll bring a lot to our new album."
ciara nodded modestly. "i'm really looking forward to this. i've heard great things about you all and your music, so this should be a lot of fun."
after simon finished his introduction, i decided to break the ice with ciara. i turned to her and asked, "so, ciara, how did you get started in songwriting? what's your story?"
ciara's face lit up with enthusiasm. "well, i started out performing my own songs when i was in college. i loved being on stage, but i found that i was just as passionate about writing songs as i was about performing them. and to be honest i literally cannot sing for the life of me. over time, i began to focus more on songwriting and started working with other artists. it's been a wonderful journey, and i'm excited to be here with you guys."
"that's fascinating," i said, genuinely interested. "do you have any particular influences or artists you look up to?"
"absolutely," ciara replied. "i grew up listening to a lot of classic rock and folk music. artists like bob dylan, joni mitchell, and fleetwood mac were huge influences on me. but i also love modern artists who push the boundaries of music. i try to blend different styles and create something unique."
"that's really cool," i said. "i can definitely see how those influences might shape your songwriting. it's always interesting to hear how different artists bring their backgrounds into their work."
as the conversation continued, i found myself genuinely enjoying ciara's company. we talked about music, our favorite albums, and even some personal anecdotes about our lives.
it was refreshing to find someone who was so open and easy to talk to, and it felt like we had known each other for much longer than just a few minutes.
at one point, ciara mentioned a songwriting technique she used that involved writing lyrics first and then crafting the melody around them. "i find that if i start with the lyrics, it gives me a strong foundation for the song," she explained. "it helps me focus on the message and emotions i want to convey."
"i've never tried that method before," i lied. "usually, i come up with melodies first and then work on the lyrics. i'm curious to see how your approach might influence our songs."
ciara smiled. "i'd love to share more about it with you. we can work on something together and see how it turns out. collaboration is all about blending different perspectives and finding what works best."
harry, who had been unusually quiet, finally looked up and joined in the conversation. "so, ciara, what's the most challenging part of songwriting for you?"
she smiled at harry and considered the question for a moment. "i think the most challenging part is staying true to your own voice while also meeting the expectations of the artist you're working with. it's a balance between being authentic and being flexible. sometimes it's tough, but it's also what makes the process rewarding."
"that's a great point," harry said, nodding thoughtfully. "i'm looking forward to seeing how your style compliments our sound."
the rest of the meeting went smoothly, with everyone contributing to the discussion about the album's direction and potential songs. ciara's presence added a new dynamic to the conversation, and her insights were valuable. as the meeting wrapped up, ciara and i exchanged contact information and agreed to meet up later to brainstorm some ideas for the album.
"i'm really excited about this project," ciara said as we said our goodbyes. "i feel like we're going to create something special together."
"me too," i replied, smiling. "it's been great getting to know you. i'm looking forward to working with you."
as i left the meeting room, i couldn't shake the feeling that meeting ciara was going to be a turning point for us. there was an undeniable connection between us, and i had a strong sense that our collaboration would be both inspiring and fruitful.
