Chapter 12: A Good Fight

Lucinda's POV

*Poof*

Hm, looks like we're in a forest. I cast a spell to trace Melissa's most recent trail. 

"Lucinda, are you okay?" Aaron asked, catching me as I almost collapsed. Come on Lucinda, stay strong, you can't give out now.

"I'm good, don't worry about me. We have to go," I stated, dizzy, but still able to walk.

I rushed towards the trail, Aaron and Aph following close behind. 

"WAIT! Don't you think we should come up with a plan? They'll have the upper hand if we just rush into their territory," Aph shout from behind, but I was too locked in to hear. 

Quickly, the trail stopped upon a cave. I ready my staff and go in. 

"Melissa! You're safe, thank Irene," I said relieved as I rushed towards her cage, but as I got closer I saw a huge gash on her leg and a bruise on her face. I was glad to see her eyes were their regular golden colour.

"Luci.. you're here! Ivan, he'll be back soon, quick help me out.." Melissa stated weakly, sitting on the ground with her wounds. 

"Of course it's Ivan," I growled, casting a spell to melt the bars. I put my hand out to help Melissa up. 

"I-I can't get up, it's too painful," She huffed, I used the little healing magic I knew on her leg, a white light flashed as I saw the gash vanish. Mel got up as I heard footsteps coming up from behind. Ivan.

"Wow babe, I didn't know you were this desperate to see me. Coulda just gave me a ca-" I cut off his snarky voice with a fireball.

"Stop calling me babe. I didn't come here for you, might as well give up well give up whatever plan you have now before I kill you. It's 2 against 1 and you know I'm stronger." 

"We'll see about that. I know how much magic you needed to use to get here. You're weak, and you're right it is 2 against 1."

A familiar green potion came flying towards me, I summoned an arrow and pierced it before it could land.

"I am not letting that happen again."

"Oh really? Melissa, why don't you help me fight Lucinda," Ivan said with a smirk. 

"With pleasure," Melissa rushed towards me, I was narrowly able to dodge, running purely off adrenaline.

He potioned Melissa?! Wait.. her eye are normal, that means it's already permanent, but how? The potions never became permanent this quick, it took days. They must've improved the formula... I have to get through to her.

"You coward! Why don't you fight me yourself? Besides, your problem is with me, not her,"

"That wouldn't be any fun now would it. She stole your heart from me, so my problem very much is with her," he replied still smirking.

Melissa caught me off guard with a punch, I was sent flying back.

"Melissa... please remember me. I love you, you've changed my life, I know none of this is your fault. I don't want to fight you-" I pleaded, but was treated with a punch to the face.

"You never loved me, you were using me like you were using Ivan. You're lucky Ivan wants me to keep you alive," she said coldly. Use Ivan? HE was using me, what did Ivan tell her.. 

"You don't mean that! Please! Melissa, I don't want to hurt you..." She started hesitating, but I was still interrupted again by a few more punches, one of which sent me into the wall again.

Nothing was working, I was forced to use my entrapment spell on her. Maybe if I deal with Ivan first this would be easier..

"I'm surprised you actually fought back. Why don't we make a deal? You drink this potion and I'll.. let Melissa go," I realized Aph and Aaron were still not here, what in the world could be making them take so long?

"No way, I am not drinking that," I said breathless.

"Fine, have it your way," Ivan shot his own entrapment spell at me, but I shot a fireball back. His magic felt.. different then what I remembered. It felt more powerful in a way, almost familiar...

"I don't understand what you want, you've already messed up your chance with me. I finally found someone who actually cares about me and you've ruined that too. If you truly wanted me you never would've cheated all those years ago," My words only enraged him.

 Ivan summoned a dagger and managed to cut my arm, I looked down to see blood gushing out of the wound. I tried to shoot another fireball, but all that came out was a spark.

"Running out of magic already huh," Ivan taunted.

I mustered up the power to hit him with a big fire ball. He flew into the wall, but I collapsed fighting to stay conscious. 

"Didn't know you had that in you, looks like you're done now though," he got up with barely a scratch.

How did he get so strong? I saw him pick up another potion and step towards me. No words were coming out of my mouth. I looked to my side to see Melissa still frozen in ice. I can't let myself get taken advantage of again... Please Lucinda just do something. 

Aaron's POV

Lucinda completely ignored Aph's shout, I guess we are going into this with no plan. I looked back and saw Aph trying to keep up, but she was still in pain from the transformation. She was lagging behind. 

"Babe, we can take a break if you need it." 

"It's okay, let's go save Melissa," Aph replied, I nodded and held Aph's hand as we followed the trail. Lucinda was out of sight, that's not great. I heard a dart being fired and felt her hand go limp. The second dart brushed past my ear as I jumped to dodge it. I could smell Ein's scent. He tried to sneak up behind me, but I turned around and countered. 

"You're supposed to be dead," I shout, my eyes shifting to red.

"And so were you, but here we are," Ein retaliated, "I see you turned Aphmau, how kind of you."

"I did NOT do that for you."

Ein took out a potion and aimed it at Aphmau, I punched it out of his hands.  

"I'm not letting that happen again. What do you want with us."

"I think you know..." He said with a sinister smile.

"I am not giving you anything." I grumbled.

"Really? How about what you came here for? Don't you care about her? We can make a de-"

I punched him in the face, I was sick of his voice.

"I don't need you, I'll find her myself."

I picked up Aph and put her behind a tree. A green laser shot from behind, it came from Ein?! He can use magic? Can't think about that now, I need to protect Aph and get Melissa back. I threw a punch at his face, but he caught my fist and threw me to the ground. He grew stronger... I felt rage flowing through my body remembering what he did to Aph. I managed to get a couple good blows, but he healed fast. 

"You won't get rid of me that easy," Ein shout, he quickly followed with a blow to my stomach. 

I coughed up some blood, staining the ground. I dodged another punch from Ein, kicking him in the legs knocking him off balance. I got a grip on him and punched several times, he grabbed my arm and was able to flip me over. I quickly grabbed his neck and was able to knock him unconscious. I was bruised and bloodied, but I had to be strong for everyone. I looked over to Aph who was just waking up. We need to move.. quick.

A/N: While writing this chapter, I realized I don't know how to write fight scenes, so I hope to do this justice! I might go on a small break from writing as I have some major events coming up, but I will come back, I promise!!
