Chapter 13: Losing Battle

Aaron's POV

"Aph, are you sure you're fine to walk? You were just knocked out," I question Aph concerned. 

"Trust me I'll be okay, we have to help Lucinda. I'll be more cautious, I can take care of myself," I nodded and continued to follow Melissa's trail. 

It led to a cave.. It felt all too familiar. I hurried inside to see Lucinda passed out, Melissa frozen to the wall and Ivan with a.. forever potion in his hand. I rushed behind Ivan, stole the potion and threw it at the wall.

"Why does everyone keep breaking my potions.." Ivan grumbled turning around, shooting ice shards straight at my face. I was able to narrowly dodge, the ice shards stuck in the wall.

I was already beaten by the fight with Ein, I honestly wouldn't be able to last much longer unless.. While I was caught up in my thoughts, Ivan almost hit me with a fireball, but Aph snuck up behind him and punched him in the head with surprising strength, but Ivan was able to get up shortly after. What was up with Ivan and Ein and how in the world could they heal so fast?

 Spell after spell, it became clear to me this was going no where and I was running out of strength. My eyes.. I could use them to... disable Ivan. It might expose me, but I was truly out of options. 3 of my closest friends' lives were on the line, I can't let them down. I shifted my eyes back to red and glared straight into Ivan's eyes. 

"What have you done!?" Ivan shout as he lurched down in pain. "Wait.. this might be good.." His sinister laughter was heavily disturbing, he laughed until he fell unconscious.. Was that the right decision? 

Lucinda's POV

"Lucinda.. Lucinda... LUCINDA!" Aaron shout in my ear, shaking me awake. Certainly not the best way to wake up, but I'm glad he did. I see Ivan on the floor and quickly remembered why we were in this situation

"What ha-" I tried to ask, but Aphmau pulled me into a tight hug.

"Thank Irene you're okay Lucinda! We thought the worst had happened.." Aph exclaimed. But it doesn't matter if I'm okay, Melissa has a forever potion on her..

"We took Ein out but I'm not sure if he'll be out much longer.. I... used my eyes on Ivan," Aaron stated hesitantly, I could tell he was beaten up pretty badly and definitely needed some medical attention.. or healing.  

"Not sure how we'll deal with that.. But Melissa has the effects of a forever potion on her," I say rather bluntly. "The effects can no longer be reversed by potion.. Her eyes have already returned to normal," I continue.

"What?! The effects are already permanent? What can we do?" Aaron exclaimed very worried.

"I might have an idea.. After the incident I was heavily studying forever potions, but I'm not sure if it'll work... But we have to try," I replied, trying to keep my composure as to not worry the group further. I try to get up, but I'm just too weak. DAMN IT LUCINDA, have enough strength, just this once.

"We HAVE to hurry, I don't know how long Ein will be out for. Lucinda, PLEASE do whatever you're thinking and quick," Aaron shout, making me loose my temper.

"I'm trying Aaron, do you think I'm being slow by choice? I PHYSICALLY cannot move right now, just give me a moment," I say angrily. Aph and Aaron were both silent after I lashed out. It was harsh, but I need the quiet right now. I take a deep breath and release Melissa. 

Melissa's POV

I watched everything unfold in front of my eyes.. I was helpless, stuck in my own mind for what felt like hours. Lucinda.. she fought so hard for me, I felt so terrible. I was deep in my own mind when I realized Lucinda had released me. It was like I was in the backseat of my own mind, I immediately started throwing punches at Lucinda, Aphmau, and Aaron. I could tell they were all holding back, I was trying to fight to control my own body, but nothing was working. 

"You guys are monsters! What did you do to Ivan?" I exclaimed only to be ignored.

"What's your plan here Lucinda? We can't keep doing this all day!" Aaron shout in Lucinda's direction. 

"Aaron, Aph.. Trust me, just leave me alone with her for a bit and maybe take Ivan with you," Lucinda says surprisingly calm. I could tell Aaron was hesitating to leave.

"Aaron.. We have to trust her, it's the best we can do right now," Aphmau came to Lucinda's defense. I watched them reluctantly leave as Lucinda was fending off my attacks.

"Whatever you're planning it won't work," I say throwing another punch, but deep inside I really do want it to work. I try to fight myself alongside Luci, hopefully slowing my attacks down. Please.. just give me some control back...

Lucinda's POV

I honestly didn't even know what I felt anymore. All my emotions were jumbled up, I was mad.. really mad at Ivan and Ein. Why can't they just accept what they have and stop bothering people who don't want them? Do they even know how to be a decent human being? I also felt guilt and sadness. But there's no time to process any feelings, I need to put my plan in action and quick. Thankfully releasing Melissa gave me enough strength to stand up and dodge her attacks which had slowed down quite significantly.. 

I mustered up the strength I had to pin Melissa against the wall with my right arm. 

"Come on, how are we supposed to have fun if all you do is fight?" I say seductively, looking straight into her eyes.

"What? What are you doing?! Let me go you witch!" She exclaimed clearly trying to insult me.

"Aww come on don't be like that, you know you want me," I said with a smirk. I could see her blushing, a good sign.

I used my left arm to ensure she couldn't fight back and went in.. for a kiss. She reciprocated the kiss.. that means.. It worked?! Love really is the key.

"Lucinda! I'm so sorry, I didn't mea-" Melissa said as she pulled me into a hug, tears streaming down her face. 

"Shh, it's alright. I know you didn't mean anything you did, I know how it feels," I cut her off. 

She pulled me into a passionate kiss, I could tell she missed me and I missed her..

"I hate to ruin this moment, but we have to go NOW! Ein woke up and is coming towards the cave," Aaron shout breathless with Aph right behind him. 

"Alright.. You 2 get behind me," I say planning to cast a teleportation spell back to the resort. 

"Lucinda, I know you're weak right now, I saw everything. Are you sure you can handle this?" Melissa asked with a worried tone. 

"It's our only option, quickly get behind me!" I state in a more desperate way, making everyone rush behind me. Come one Lucinda just one more spell.

Melissa's POV

I ran behind Lucinda worried, but we had no other choice. White light began emanating from the ground as I saw Ein dash into the cave. We managed to get out just in the nick of time.. 

The spell wasn't perfect, we definitely fell a few feet before landing on the ground, but I was just glad to be safe.. safe with her. I have to explain everything to Lucinda, I'm the whole reason we got into this mess.. I look over to see Lucinda's lifeless body. Aphmau and Aaron were no where to be seen...

I have been busier than normal this month and haven't had the time or energy to write, but I'll try to be more consistent from now on! I hope you enjoyed this chapter :)
