"Okay students, it's finally time to reveal your Psychology project for this year. As I have already mentioned beforehand, the project will be in groups of three which would be decided by me. Our topic for this year is, 'Impact of teenagers on social media.' You will each interview 3 people age asking them a set of 5-6 questions and record their answers. Each of you will make up your own questions and then write down your answers and form a booklet of it. This counts for 20% of your final grade so I hope you take it very seriously. I will now be reading out the groups." Said Mrs Johnson in a loud and clear voice.

She was a short woman with a chubby face. She had long hair which she tied as a bun on the top of her head. She wore large spectacles and glared at two people whispering at the back. She was pleasant by nature but would yell your head off if your work was not completed which is one reason I was hoping to get who would be willing to work on the project and want it done as soon as possible like me.

She started reading out the groups. Some were paired with their friends and they grinned at each other while some were separated from their friends so they gave disappointed looks.

Finally, after a while, she read out, "Aiden, Rebecca and Erin."

Oh what fresh hell is this?

I don't know how I feel about this. I mean, one side there is Aiden and on the other Rebecca. After hearing her conversation with her friends at the coffee shop, I've realized how possessive she is of him and her hatred towards any other girl talking to him. I just don't want to get in the middle of all of it. I hope that they both like me want to get it over with as soon as possible. Hopefully, it will all go smoothly. Oh Lord, please let it go smoothly.

"Okay, you all can form your groups and start discussing. You have 30 minutes." rang Mrs Johnson's voice.

Everyone started forming their groups. Rebecca had already gone and sat next to Aiden so I went towards them.

"Okay, so how are we going to start?" asked Rebecca

"We can each come up with a set of 4-5 questions that we're going to ask our interviewees." I answered

"Who are you?" she asked eyeing me up and down as if I was some piece of chewing gum stuck to her shoe.

"I'm Erin... Erin Levine. I'm your teammate."

Was she not hearing Mrs Johnson when she read out the team names?

"How come I've never heard of you before?"

"I'm new admission. I joined school this year."

"Hmm, no wonder"

"No wonder what?"

"No wonder I don't know you. I mean, even if you were in this school for a long time, I wouldn't know you. Your fashion sense explains it all."

Wow, this girl was really getting on my nerves. What was wrong with my fashion sense? Sure, I didn't wear expensive clothes like her but I still dressed fine, according to me.

"I come here to get an education, not to impress people. My teachers seem to be pretty satisfied with me and my clothing style, so I don't see why you have a problem with it. But, thank you for your concern though." I said sweetly

Aiden for some reason seemed to be enjoying our conversation quite a bit. He grinned at my reply and keenly looked at us hoping that it would escalate into something more.

That jerk

"Aiden, what do you think?" she said sweetly looking at him.

Damn, the change in her tone.

"What do I think about what?" he said, the grin immediately leaving his face as she turned towards him.

"What do you think about – "she began sweetly again but I cut her off. I knew she was going to ask something about my fashion sense. She looked annoyed.

"What do you think about the project? I mean, when and where should we meet up?" I asked

"Oh, uh... We should first decide our own questions. Let's work on it this weekend. We'll meet up at Sunday and look at each other's questions and then work ahead. That fine with you guys?"

"Of course." Rebecca replied, her 'sweet' smile plastered on her face

"Yeah, okay. Where are we meeting up? My place is not available." I said quickly

"Why not?" asked Rebecca

"Uhh... construction work going on. Really messy."

"We'll meet up at mine. 6 okay?" She replied looking flirtatiously at Aiden.

It's like I'm not even here

"Yeah" we both replied at the same time.

"Really, construction work going on? You could not think of a better excuse?"

"Hey, the brain thinks what it thinks. It was a spur of the moment thing, I said whatever came into my head."

It was mid-afternoon. Me and Aiden were walking home from school and he decided to use this an opportunity to tease me about my excuse for not inviting them home for the psychology project.

The reason I didn't want to invite Rebecca is because she doesn't know my past and I didn't want her or anyone asking me questions about where my parents were or why I lived with my grandma which is something I'm sure she would have asked. Anyone would be curious.

"I mean, construction work? Seriously? What are you constructing sourpuss?"

"Oh my god, will you drop it? And stop calling me sourpuss."

"Nah, I can't... Not even renovation or something, construction work." he continued laughing like it's the funniest thing in the world.

"You know what, I'm in the mood to have some ice-cream. Television with 'BULLERSCOTCH' ice-cream. What a combination!" I said pretending to sigh dreamily

That shut him up.

I honestly enjoy writing their bantering so much! What about you guys? Are you enjoying the book?
