I woke up the next morning with five messages from Mia, two from Danny. Honestly, none of the messages made much sense to me. I laughed reading them, people do strange things when they're drunk.

Mia: I'm homeeeee

Mia: Hehheheheheh

Mia: Erin, you're my girllllll

Mia: I really don't like Sasha.

Mia: I love myself though

Danny: We gonna party like it's 3012 tonight!!

Danny: Wow, woahhhhh, Okay, I'm drunk

"Here is your lemon water" granny said handing me a glass.

"Ughh, do I really need to drink this every single day?" I asked.

I hated lemon water. It was basically water with lemon squeezed in it. It tasted horrible. But, for some reason, my granny insisted that I have this every day.

"Yes, you do. It's good for your health." Said Granny in a no-buts voice.

I drank it, making many disgusted faces. Even though I had been drinking it for a while now, I still could not get used to the taste.

"Wow, someone looks pleasant" came a familiar voice.

"Aiden, what are you doing here? How did you even get in?"

"The door was open, so I invited myself in. I know you're happy to see me." he said smirking.

"So happy" I replied, sarcastically.

"What are you drinking by the way?"

"Lemon water, it tastes disgusting and I hate it. Granny keeps forcing me to drink it because it is 'good for my health'." I replied, using air quotes around 'good for my health'.

"Bleeechhh" I had just drank another sip of it. Aiden started laughing. I liked his laugh, it sounded melodious and just pleasant.

Gosh, stop it, Erin. You sound like you have a crush on him.

No, I don't

"Don't be such a drama queen and finish it. You've been drinking it for the past 15 mins and you're not even halfway done." Said Granny playfully rolling her eyes.

"What exactly are you grinning about?" I just noticed Aiden looking at me with a playful grin.

"I had found a new nickname for you."

"What?"

"Sourpuss"

"Yeah... I don't think so. I'm not even grumpy by nature"

"Sure, you're not. We're friends now, right? A nickname is in order. And, you hate lemon water, it just makes sense." he says smirking

"Now I regret saying yes to being friends" I replied grumpily

"Hello Aiden. What time are you coming over for dinner tonight?" said Granny with a pile of laundry in her hand.

"Around 8"

"You guys are having dinner together?" I asked surprised. That was news to me.

"Yeah, we have dinner together every Sunday." said Aiden with a smile. I could tell that he looked forward to these dinners.
I'm sure Granny did too.

"Oh, that's nice." I replied genuinely

"Bye granny. See ya sourpuss." He said cheekily

"Bye annoying human being" I muttered

I started getting ready for dinner at around 7:30 pm. I wasn't trying to look pretty or anything, just presentable. I had pretty much been wearing my baggy hoodie and track pants all day. I chose a simple purple crop top and white shorts. I combed my hair neatly and wore my clover necklace. I was just about to go down when I my eyes caught a photo of me with my parents. It was one of my favourite photos with them. I loved it so much that I got it framed and put it beside on bedside table.

I was really young. Around 2 years, I guess. Me, mom and dad had gone to the beach. My mom had made my wear a pretty pink frock and all of us were looking at the sunset.

Tears blurred in my eyes while looking at it. I realized that I'm never going to have those moments with them anymore. When it was just the three of us going out for dinner, me and my dad teaming up to tease my mom for her horrible taste in pizza, me and mom staying up late-nights on weekend, cuddling in blankets to watch a rom-com or just talk about things in general.

They aren't going to be here for any of the crucial and special moments in my life. The day I graduate, the day I get married.... Who's going to walk me down the aisle or cry on my graduation day and hug me and say "Erbear, you've grown so fast."

No one. I would have to go through every sadness and happiness in life without my parents. They mattered the most to me, more than anyone else and they were just... gone.

Tears were rapidly falling down my eyes and everything became blurry. I tried to wipe my eyes but it was no use. My eyes had become red and nose snotty. I heard my granny call me down for dinner.

"Coming granny" I yelled trying to sound as normal as possible.

I had lost my appetite now. I didn't feel like eating anything. I didn't wanna hurt granny though, she had made a lot of effort for this. I decided that I would eat a little bit and rush to my room.

I quickly wiped my tears and took a few deep beaths. I then went to the bathroom and splashed my face with cold water a few times and hurried downstairs.

I went and immediately sat down at the table without saying anything to anyone. I didn't feel like engaging in any conversation tonight. I guess the name Sourpuss suited me. I saw the granny had already set up all the plates and cutlery. I felt a little guilty as I had been going down to help her but then the photo had caught my eye.

"Hey Sourpuss."

"Oh, hey" I replied quietly forgetting that Aiden was there too.

"Are you okay?" he asked immediately in a soft and concerned voice.

"Yeah, thanks." I replied firmly. I didn't want him to ask what had happened. I'm not even sure if he knew what had happened to my parents and why I was here. I really wished he didn't but he probably did, since he and granny were so close but still, that didn't mean I wanted to talk to him or anyone about it. I didn't need people pitying me.

He looked like he didn't believe me but dropped the subject. Granny them came with dinner, Chicken and lemon skewers and we all started eating.
