The laugh of a child resounded through the halls like sinister melody that clung to the air. The childish voice laughed in glee, its echoes bouncing off the cold stone walls.

"AHAHAHAHA! HAHA!"

On the throne sat a shadowed figure, hidden behind a golden mask and a white cape that draped over his whole body, not an inch of his skin being seen.

"Collector," the emperor called out, his voice a blend of amusement and veiled threat.

The giggling continued, growing louder and more maniacal as a shadow twisted and writhed on the ground, morphing into shapes of crescents and stars. The shadow circled a figure on the ground, its laughter ringing with delight as it watched the face of its victim contort in horror and despair.

"MORE! MORE! MORE!" The shadow's voice was a frenzied screech, eyeing the witch that was stuck in a never-ending loop of torment and nightmares.

"Quick! Make them go back in the loop again!" The shadow stretched and engulfed the walls, the their twisted, gleeful smile reflecting in the darkness.

"That is enough for now." The emperor stood up, his hand a gesture of dismissal. "We still have some things to do."

"Awwwww, but I was having so much fuuun! I want fun! Fun! FUN!" The shadow's voice was an impatient wail, echoing through the chamber like the cries of a damned soul.

The emperor clenched his teeth behind his mask, annoyance flickering in his eyes. Yet, he maintained his composure, careful not to upset the shadow that had been his most useful tool for countless years. After all, it was all thanks to this shadow that he was able to get to where he was now.

"We will have fun. Later." The emperor's cold voice resonated through the room. He walked towards a rock positioned beside his throne, carved with the eerie symbols of the sun and the moon.

"You should rest." The emperor said, picking up a heavy cloth from the side.

"But I don't want to rest!" The shadow's voice rose in a shriek of defiance, but the emperor paid no heed to its tantrum. "I wanna pla-"

The emperor draped a heavy cloth over the rock, muffling the shadow's protests. One could hear the muffled voices of a spoiled child, demanding to be freed. Yet the emperor paid no heed, returning to his throne.

He set it down on the throne once more, the subdued voices bringing a cruel smile to his lips.

"That's better. Now..." He turned his gaze toward the figure on the ground, his eyes gleaming with cold intent.
