The mother felt a sense of unease when the baby moved unexpectedly. Krishna Kumar, having just returned from the office to rest, noticed her discomfort and immediately rushed her to the hospital.
While they were seated in the reception area, a nurse approached and said, "Sir, the doctor is calling you."
Krishna Kumar responded, "Yes, we're coming."
Krishna Kumar supported his wife, who was six months pregnant, as they made their way to the doctor's cabin.
After conducting a thorough examination and reviewing the observations, the doctor carefully scrutinized the reports. She appeared surprised and said, "I'm not sure how to tell you this because the results are quite unpredicted."
The doctor, who was 53 years old but looked youthful, had fair skin, an oval-shaped face, and wore a churidar. She seemed healthy and energetic. Krishna Kumar closely watched her expressions as she examined the reports.
With intense concern, Krishna Kumar asked, "What happened, doctor? Is our baby doing good?"
After double-checking the reports, the doctor inquired, "Are you eating enough of the right foods, including proteins, nutrients, and essential fruits?" she asked his wife, setting the reports aside.
He and his wife looked at each other in surprise and she replied, "Yes, doctor."
Krishna Kumar tensed and questioned again, "Is everything fine, doctor?"
The doctor took off her spectacles and said, "Actually, it's not fine. The baby's body parts have developed, but they haven't grown."
After hearing this, Krishna Kumar and his wife felt a heavy sense of worry.
The doctor continued, "It seems the baby may not be ready to come into this world. Although it is breathing, it is not responding or growing as expected. This is your third pregnancy, and considering your history of two previous miscarriages, if this pregnancy ends in miscarriage, you may face significant challenges with future pregnancies."
The mother felt a heavy sense of despair, and Krishna Kumar, understanding the seriousness of the situation, wiped the sweat from his brow and asked, "What can we do now, doctor?"
The doctor replied, "I think we should wait for another two days before making any decisions."
Krishna Kumar understood her advice. Both he and his wife were deeply concerned and stressed. Observing their worry, the doctor reassured them, "Try to stay calm and not let your worries take over. Just have a hope and trust the process."
