Aunt Kate

I woke up to the sound of someone knocking. I groaned, and rolled over.

"Five more minutes, dad," I mumbled into my pillow.

The knocking grew louder and more rapid. I rolled my eyes, and finally got up. I sat upright in my bed, and rubbed my eyes. I realized the knocking wasn't coming from my bedroom door. It was coming from the window. When I looked to the window, I saw Scott there, staring at me expectantly. My eyes widened and I rushed over to him. I opened the window and let him inside.

"What the hell are you doing here? How'd you even find my house?" I asked. "It's the middle of the night, and I need my sleep or I will be a beast at school tomorrow."

"Sh," Scott said.

"Boy, who are you telling to 'sh?' You're lucky I let you into my house-"

"Bella, be quiet and just listen."

I reluctantly did as he said. We stood in my room in silence for a moment. I tapped my foot impatiently. Why is Scott here?

"Scott, I don't hear-" my sentence was cut off when I heard a loud bang. "What the hell was that?"

"I'm not sure," Scott replied. "That's why I'm here. I heard it and it woke me up. You're the only other werewolf I know, and I need someone to come with me."

"What about Derek?"

"You know I don't trust him."

"Scott, that sounded a lot like a gunshot. If it's serious, you should get someone stronger that has way more experience than me."

"Just come with me to check it out. If anything bad goes down, we'll get out of there."

I stared up at him for a moment as I thought about my decision. I didn't want Scott to go alone, because he could get hurt. If he gets hurt, it would be my fault, because I should've been with him.

"You promise?" I finally said. "You promise we'll leave as fast as we can if anything happens?"

"I promise," Scott responded. "Just please come with me."

"Okay. Let's make this quick."

"You're going like that?"

I put my sneakers on quickly and I had just made a move towards the window when Scott questioned my attire. I was in batman pajama pants, and a tank top.

"Hey, you're lucky I'm even going at all," I snapped. "I could be sleeping right now."

He raised his hands in surrender. We climbed out of the window and I left it cracked so I could get back in later. We heard the gunshot again and ran in the direction from where it came. It led us to a small car in the middle of the road. It seemed familiar to me. We watched what was happening from atop a building. A tall blonde woman was holding a large gun and was walking away from the car. I recognized her instantly.

"Scott, that's my aunt," I tugged the sleeve of his shirt. "That's my aunt Kate. She's a total badass. She'll kill any werewolf. If she finds out I'm one, she may even kill me."

"Who is she shooting at, though?" Scott questioned.

"I don't know."

I took a deep breath to see if I could catch any scents. I picked up a strong perfume, which had to be Kate. It smells really good. She's got to let me borrow it. I picked up an unfamiliar scent that I've never smelled before. I knew it was a werewolf, but it was...different, I guess. I was surprised that I picked up another scent...it was Derek.

"Scott, Derek is down there," I said worriedly. "There's another werewolf down there, too, but I don't know who it is."

"What if it's the alpha?" Scott turned to face me.
