Chapter 3-

"Cocaine, dollar bills, and my happy little pill!" I was in my dorm singing at the top of my lungs and trying to study, but getting too caught up in the music that's blaring from my headphones into my ears. I've made it through the first week of college and it's saturday morning and I still had to wake up early enough to have time to study along with my own free time. Today I promised Zen that we would hang out and get to know each other some more, but thats in like an hour. So, to have time to study I woke up at eight this morning and now it's ten, meaning I've wasted all my time to actually learn anything. I'm just gonna give up and sing. I had my back facing the door because I put my desk in front of the window that had a view of the college. I felt hands grip my waist and I let out a high pitched squeal, jumping out of my seat. I turned around to see Zen bending over clutching his stomach as he laughed. His laugh is very contagious which is why it took all I had to hold my own laugh back. "Such an adorable scream." He said while regaining his posture, but still giggling. I huffed and pouted out my bottom lip. "What are you doing here? You weren't supposed to be here until an hour." I wonder if he even studies. "Well I got bored and I thought I should save the damsel in distress from studying too hard." He let out a small laugh at his own words. "Ah, well thank you my knight in shining armor. My hero." I give a small bow. Zen looks at me with a straight face, but then let out a loud cry of laughter. I join him in laughing, but soon we both wipe the tears in our eyes and calm our breathing. "So, do you not have a roommate?" He asks while looking over at the empty bed before laying down on it. "No, I did and then I guess he left, I never got to meet him though." I told him as he closed his eyes an nodded his head. "Usually roommates get mixed up and ones who requested to be with their friends have to go tell the administration so they can be put together." He shrugs and put his hands behind his head. "How do you know all that?" I question, it's our first year here, how does he know this information? "My brother went here a while back, he told me everything to make sure I was prepared," He stated. Oh now it makes sense. "Oh, nice singing by the way." He said while chuckling. I blushed from embarrassment, "oh shut up," I whined. He laughed again. "What's with you being so giggly today?" I asked, he has been laughing at almost everything. "I don't know, I told you. You just put me in a good mood." He said while opening his eyes and turning his head to look at me. I smiled and blushed. He grinned at me showing his perfectly straight white teeth. I let out a long breathe, "so what are we going to do today?" I ask him and he sits up swinging his legs over the side of the bed. "I was thinking we could go catch a movie." Zen said while pulling out his phone amd typing. "What movie?" I ask totally fine with the plan. "Oh, what about The DUFF?" Zen smiled wide, I guess he really wants to see the movie. "Yeah sure thing, you're lucky I read the book though." It's true, I read the book. I know it's a girly romance type book, but I couldn't help myself. I loved it to be completely honest, basically describes my life. "I'm not surprised." Zen laughed. I scoffed and changed the subject. "If you can't tell I'm still in my pj's, so let me get dressed." He only nodded before looking down at his phone. I went to my dresser and pulled out my black sweater with a Mickey Mouse animation on the front and a pair of khakis skinnies. "You know, you took away an hour of my studying time." I said turning to Zen and peeling my shirt off to replace it with my sweater. "Yeah, but how much studying were you doing anyway?" He questioned with a smirk. I sighed, he's right. "Ugh, none." I pulled down my pajama pants and slid on my skinnies. He smiled at me with a 'I'm always right' look and then looked back down at his phone grinning even wider. I'm curious, who's he texting? "Zen, who are you texting?" I asked in the most none nosy voice I could produce. "My Brother." He said before bouncing on the bed a little in excitement. My smile fell from my lips and was replaced with a confused grin. Why did Zen get so excited about texting his brother? I wonder if they're really close. I cleared my throat, walking to the door and sliding my shoes on. "Let's just go already." I said and left the room, I didn't bother waiting for Zen. I began walking to my car. "Yo, Ash! Where you going?" He asked. What a dumb question. "My car." I pointed to my Ferrari. "No, where taking my motorcycle." He said with a smirk. My eyes widened. "No." I clenched my jaw. "Why not? Its fun." He's so dumb. "No, Zen it's scary. I don't want to die." I explained and he shook his head in disbelief. "Just give it a try? For me? For our newly found friendship?" He put his hand out for me to take. "Stop be so sappy." I said while grabbing his hand. He chuckled and pulled me to his motorcycle. "If I get killed it's all on you. You're paying for my funeral." I gave him a stern look so he knows I'm serious. "Just put the helmet on." A helmet with a batman signal on the top was shoved into my chest. "Fine." I grumbled under my breathe while sliding on the helmet. "Alright, lets go." I said starting to put my leg over the bike, but Zen pulled me back. "You didn't finish putting on the helmet." Zen grabbed the helmet on my head with his hands placed on either side and tugged me towards him. He moved his hands below my chin grabbing two straps and buckling them together. "Oh, I didn't see those." I said and Zen chuckled. "Yeah, well its kinda important." He smiled and tightened the straps. "Thanks." I said. Zen looked up at me. His bright green eyes staring into my hazel ones. It felt like he has been staring into my eyes for hours. I cleared my throat. "Are we gonna go? Or..." I asked leaning back on my heels. "Um, yeah. Yeah let's go." Zen shook his head, as if clearing his mind. He turned around and got on the bike. I followed his actions. "Do you mind if I put my arms around you instead of on your shoulders because I rather not lose my grip and die." I nervously laughed. "Yeah, for sure." He nodded. I reached my hands out and wrapped them around his torso. God! He's extremely fit. I need to workout more, but I love my food. I frowned at the thought of giving up my food. It's my one true love. I let that thought go, too depressing right now. I didn't realize how tired I was until I leaned my helmeted head against Zen's back and closed my eyes. "Ash! Ashtyn! Wake up!" Zen was yelling my name. I opened my eyes, blinking rapidly. "What?" I asked slightly grumpy. "We're at the movies," He said trying to look back at me, but failing because he wasn't able to turn his head that far back. "Get off me." He rocked back a bit to get me to move. "Ugh, don't be surprised if I fall asleep during the movie." I told him as I got off the motorcycle. "I won't allow it." He said. I rubbed my eyes and groaned. Zen sighed and wrapped an arm around my waist pulling me towards the movie theater entrance. When we got to the ticket both Zen drew his arm away from my side. I started to put my hands in my pocket to get my money. "No need, I got this." Zen said stopping me from paying. "Two tickets to The DUFF, please." He told the lady while sliding her his money and she gave him the tickets in return. "Hope you enjoy." She said sweetly with a bright smile. We smiled back and walked away. "Thank you." I said looking at Zen. "For?" He asked, confusion written on his face. How clueless can this boy be? "Paying for my ticket." I told him as we walked to the concession stand and stood in line. "Oh, yeah no problem," He smiled down at me. "You should go save us some seats, I'll get the food and meet you there." He said and handed me my ticket. "Okay." I nodded and walked off. I could feel his eyes on me as I walked away, but I didn't dare turn around an look. I gave the creepy bug eyed man my ticket and continued walking till I found the movie. There wasn't actually as many people as I expected there to be. Maybe we're just early. I went towards the back, not all the way back, but a little away from the ending wall. I sat in the middle of the row and watched the previews waiting on Zen. More people seemed to file in towards the middle of the previews. Most seats were filled now, I kept my hand placed in the seat where Zen was going to sit. "Excuse me? Is this seat taken?" I looked up to the voice I heard. The boy looked about my age, he had on a red jacket with black skinny jeans. His face was perfectly sharp around the jaw and is brown eyes sparkled slightly. I cleared my throat. "Uh, yeah. My friend is coming." I said, my voice cracking slightly. "Oh okay, well if your friend doesn't show I'll be sitting over there." He said pointing towards the bottom of the theater. I looked where he pointed and then back at him just in time to see him wink at me. My jaw dropped open, but before I could recollect myself and speak a new voice was heard. It was Zen. "His friend is right here so you might as well go sit back over there now." His tone was cold and venomous. Zen pointed just like the boy did, mocking him. "Zen." I gave him a stern look trying to tell him he's not being nice. "He's here with me, so back off." Zen disregarded me and continued to harass the boy. "Dude, chill. I didn't know you guys were a thing." The boy held his arms up trying to show Zen he didn't mean any harm. I chuckled under my breathe slightly, this boy actually thought Zen and I were a couple. "Yeah, well next time look harder." Zen's eyes went dark in anger. Did Zen really just confirm to the boy that we were together. I put my head into my hands, sighing. I peeked out through my fingers. People were staring now. Nobody was yelling at Zen and the boy to sit down they were just interested in their conversation, I guess it's more entertaining than the previews. "Okay, I'm leaving now. Enjoy you're little gay date. He wasn't even as cute as I thought he was," The boy confessed and looked back at me laughing. Well, that hurt. Zen's face was bright red, I swear if this boy said one more thing Zen would have steam escaping from his ears. "Disgusting." The boy mumbled. Zen shoved the popcorn and soda into my hands, I hadn't realized he had been holding them. The boy was starting to walk off, but Zen grabbed his shoulder spinning him around roughly. The boy could barely get a word out before Zen punched him straight in the nose.

...

To say the least, we got kicked out of the theater. Zen and I were standing outside of the building. Neither of us said anything. Zen was still pissed. I was scared to talk to him considering he almost broke the boys face. Zen lowered his head and shook it, "I'm sorry you didn't get to see the movie." He looked disappointed in himself. I felt bad now. "No, its fine. The boy was a jerk he deserved it. Plus, now I know who to call if I ever need help beating someone up," I really did want to see the movie, but we can just go another time. I was more thankful that the security guards didn't call the cops on Zen. Zen chuckled still shaking his head. I reached up and grabbed his chin, stopping him from shaking his head. I pointed his chin towards me forcing him to look at me. "Hey, don't be so hard on yourself. You taught that boy a lesson, never mess with a gay guy and his straight friend who apparently is a couple because then you'll get beat up." I gave Zen a goofy smile. He laughed such a beautiful laugh. "Well, what else was I supposed to say? He was being a massive jerk, nobody insults my Ashy." Zen pouted, but I could see the smile hidden in his eyes. I smiled too. "Thank you." I said looking into his green eyes. I reached out wrapping my arms around his waist and leaning my head on his chest. Zen didn't say anything, all he did was pull me tighter to him and place his chin on the top of my head. "How about we just go get something to eat and talk?" He asked, pulling us apart so he could look at me. "Yeah, I would like that." Zen nodded and grabbed my hand, leading us back to the motorcycle. After putting my helmet on the correct way this time, we got on and headed off to a small diner down the street.
