Darkness painted the night sky, though no stars were visible that night, the dark, heavy clouds obscuring them from plain sight. It was calm, aside from the rapid clank of steel against steel coming from the sky.

Nathan, the crow, was in a hurry to return to his hideout. It was hard to tell what the bird was feeling merely from its expression, but entirely, his body language could tell anyone that the crow was agitated.

Nearly crashing against the windowpane, Nathan began pecking on the glass, asking to be let inside. It didn't take long to be opened as he immediately dove inside, crashing against the sleek office table.

"You're in a hurry," a gravely voice spoke nonchalantly, not even batting the exhausted bird an eye. "It's about to rain soon. We should stay inside."

But, the man's words was responded by a series of caws. Nathan stood on his two claws, jumping from side to side as he tried to explain the dire situation. It finally caught the man's attention as he eyed the bird with curiosity.

"So what if your friend gets attacked by a Wanderer? He can just fly away."

Again, Nathan cawed, this time it sounded annoyed - the man was really stingy when it came to lending his powers.

"You made friends with a human?" leaning his body forward, he hunched his tall frame to come face to face with Nathan. "How important is she that you're asking me to help you?"

Nathan cawed, as if begging for the man to rescue his friend.

With a deliberate sigh, the man pushes himself up, standing from his desk. "Alright. You owe me one."

Thunders could be heard from the distance. The situation hadn't improved at all.

I was trapped in a loop. Breaking through the illusions created by the Wanderer proved to be pointless as it ended up regenerating itself quickly. Unless I was able to break the illusion altogether with a quick and strong attack, it won't change anything.

Exhausted, I knelt down on the ground with my gun aimed at the Wanderer. It's sharp gaze was piercing right through me, as if it was being smug and proving its dominance on the No Hunt Zone. I pulled on the trigger, but the gun simply clicked.

"Not now!" I exasperatedly yelled as I began to hit the hilt of the gun with my palm.

Taking the opportunity, the Wanderer screeched, shooting several ultrasonic wave towards my way. Acting on my instincts entirely, I rolled away from the attack. A slight sting of pain could be felt from my leg, but I'll ignore it for now. There were more pressing matters at hand to deal with.

Quickly rushing a few feet away from the Wrymlord, I situated myself in the back of a dead tree. With haste, I began to deconstruct my gun and quickly reassembled it to fix the jam.

"Damn it!" the gun wouldn't budge still.

The Wrymlord screeched, followed by something heavy dropping to the ground. Thumps of its footsteps rang through the empty area, feeling the Wanderer's presence creeping ever so closer towards my hiding space. It was enjoying its time, igniting fear onto its enemy. I could feel my heartbeat thrumming against my chest from the momentum.

Gathering what's left of my courage, I decided to face the creature head on. Either way, I might end up with more injuries anyways.

Just as I turned on my heels to point my gun on the Wrymlord, a loud explosion knocked mw off my feet. Faceplanting on the ground with a grunt, I heard the Wrymlord screeching, but it didn't sound like it was aimed my way. Lifting my head off the ground, I caught sight of a figure standing meters away from the Wrymlord. It was hard to tell who or what it was through blurred vision. But, I couldn't give up yet.

Lifting myself off the ground, I took the opportunity to inspect my gun. My mind began to clear up as I noticed something clogging the chambers. Hastily, I poked inside the gun's chamber and managed to take out whatever it was that clogged it. Running from the sidelines of the battle, I stood a decent distance from the person.

"Aren't you supposed to kill Wanderers and keep the No Hunt Zone safe?" the silver-haired man spoke in a gravely voice, but kept his gaze solely on the Wrymlord in front of us.

"Sorry, shitty gun," I began shooting at the Wrymlord, earning an aggravated screech.

The man chuckled, "I pity you, Deepspace Hunters," he didn't hesitate to charge forward, dealing melee damage to the Wrymlord - which somehow seemed like it was more effective than my gun.

Given its agonizing screech, it sounded like the Wanderer was temporarily weakened. The man jumped back, landing by my side. "Resonate with me," he extended his hand out, waiting for me to do as told.

Without a second thought, I reached out for his hand, feeling a surge of energy coursing through my body. Through the overwhelming power I'd just gained, something flashed through my mind as my vision became hazy. It was like a memory being played back - but, I couldn't tell the scenery that was unfolding in my head.

Maybe it was the fatigue, or maybe it was the overwhelming energy I couldn't contain within, but I found myself losing consciousness. Before I could react, I felt myself plummet to the ground with the world spinning ever so aggressively through my eyes.

It was unusual.

The silver haired man eyed your limp form on the ground with a nonchalant expression. Even so, his eyebrow quirked in curiosity, just then feeling the intensity of the resonance dissipating from the palm of his hands.

Nathan cawed as he flew back to the man's shoulder with a protocore between its beak. He looked down at you with a worrisome expression.

With what he had just experienced, the tall man decided that the hunter might possess something he had been looking over - or, at the very least, he might be able to gather some info, if the woman by any chance knew anything about the power she possessed.
