I'm not sure what kind of witchcraft this man possesses, but one second I'm in a VIP suite with an unconscious duke lying on the floor, chased after mobs of wealthy people, and the next I'm standing in the homey hotel room. While chaos ensued underground, which I assumed was where the auction was taking place, the hotel room above was peaceful.
A hum rumbled to my right ear. Waking up from my daydreams, I glanced up, wishing I was still daydreaming. While both of my arms were wrapped securely on his waist, Sylus had his hand on my shoulder, the other stroking my hair as he smirked playfully from above me. "What a clingy little kitten," his baritone voice rumbled as I had my right ear pressed against his chest.
Spontaneously, I pulled away from the embrace — well, I was the one embracing him, but he was half-embracing me anyway. I cleared my throat, flashing him a meek smile. "Anyway, what was that all about?"
"It was our first mission," Sylus spoke nonchalantly as he fixed the suit hanging from his shoulders.
I snorted, "Our? I'm not getting dragged into some sort of shady business of yours, right?" I looked up at him with a playful, expectant look.
"You just did," patting down God knows what off his tailored suit, his gaze faltered below for a second before looking me straight in the eyes again. "Which is why I made you a second identity, apart from your legal one."
Perhaps, it was the shock from getting chased by wealthy people, the second identity he made, or maybe I was just shocked in general. But, the words rolled off his tongue so casually, it almost sounded like he was joking. "Why didn't you tell me about this whole scheme of yours?!"
"Because you'll refuse," he walked towards the dressing table, opening the drawer.
While he rummaged through an array of the cosmetics, I was left standing in the middle of the room, internally panicking. "Does that mean I can't go back to Linkon?"
"Nonsense," Sylus was taking his dear time rummaging through that drawer. "The purpose of creating another identity for you is to give you access to Linkon and the N109 Zone."
"Wait, does that mean you're letting me go?" the newfound joy made me turn my head around to face Sylus. Instead of giving me an actual answer, he sauntered over, raised my hand, and put something on the palm of my hand. A Chanel rouge allure velvet in shade 54.
"You should wear red more often, it suits you," his gaze lingered a bit longer below while he handed me the lipstick. Casually, he began to walk towards the door, with me tailing behind him.
It wasn't until we reached the elevator when I realized something — this man had been checking me out the whole time. Looking at my reflection in the elevator's door, I noticed that while my chest didn't have a dramatic cut to show a lot of cleavage, especially with the sheer fabric covering over it, the red fur shawl accentuated the dress's shape, making each and every curve pop. I gave Sylus the side eye, which resulted in our eye contact.
"You've been looking at me the whole time?" I asked matter-of-factly.
"Yes."
"Thought you'd be embarrassed to admit it," I crossed my arms over my chest, covering it.
Sylus snorted, "I'm no prudish man," he broke eye contact, staring ahead as the elevator stopped moving. "In fact, I like seeing this side of you better."
While Sylus casually walked out the elevator, I merely stumbled along, following after his steps. "What do you mean, this side of me?"
"That's for you to find out, sweetie," his response ended our conversation as we walked out of the hotel's lobby.
