The rest of the evening went by surprisingly well. Despite the awkward tension that was left behind by Hyunjin's sudden and abrupt exit.
Jeongin got along well with everyone, just like Chan knew he would. Even Felix was feeling in better spirits, which Changbin was thankful for. He hates seeing the younger sad.
After everyone finished eating, they were all outside getting ready to go their separate ways.
"I had such a great time!" Jeongin says happily. "It was so nice meeting all of you. I hope we can do this again sometime."
"It was nice meeting you too, Jeongin." says Hongjoong. "I'm sure we can meet up again in the future."
The others nod in agreement. "Yeah, definitely." said Wooyoung. "This was a lot of fun."
"I'm so sorry about Hyunjin." Changbin apologized. "I don't know what's come over him." The funny thing was, Changbin had a strong suspicion on what it was. He just didn't want the others to know yet.
"He seems like an okay guy." says San. "But he looks like he's got a lot on his place."
"Too much." Minho blurted out, causing Jisung to squeeze his hand to calm him down.
"He's... had a rough few years." says Jisung.
"Sorry to hear that." says Seonghwa. "Is there anything we can do to help?"
"He's pretty reserved." says Seungmin. "He has a hard time letting people in. But I'm sure you can help once he gets to know you better."
"Well, let's hope next time Hyunjin can stick around to get to know us better." says Mingi.
"Yeah, he does seem like a nice guy." says Yunho. "But he definitely needs to work on whatever's bothering him."
Changbin took those words in. That's exactly what he was trying to do, help Hyunjin deal with whatever he's going through. He felt like he failed him.
After a few more minutes, the boys said their goodbyes and headed home. Changbin and Felix rode with Minho and Felix, while the others rode in Chan's car.
The drive back home was quiet. Too quiet. No one knew exactly what to say about what happened with Hyunjin. They were all a mixture of sad, worried, frustrated, and concerned. Just when they thought they were making progress with Hyunjin, they went 10 steps back.
They finally arrived home and got out of their cars when Jisung spoke. "I'm gonna spend the night with Minho again." he said.
Back at Chan's car, he gave Jeongin a goodnight kiss before Jeongin and Seungmin headed back to their place.
"I'll see you guys tomorrow." Changbin said as he and Felix went back home.
Once inside, Chan was the first to head upstairs. "I'm gonna take a shower and head to bed." he said.
"Okay, goodnight, Chan." said Changbin.
Felix was also about to head upstairs when Changbin held his hand. "Lix, stay for a bit." he said.
"Is everything alright, Binnie?" Felix asks, curious.
"Can we talk?" Changbin said, and Felix nodded. "Somewhere a bit more private."
Changbin then led Felix out to the back, still gently holding his hand.
Once they were outside, Felix was the first to speak. "What's going on, Binnie?" he asks.
Changbin took a deep breath. "Felix, there's something I've been wanting to tell you for a long time now." he says, and Felix nods his head, urging him to continue. "I like you a lot. And, after the other night, I think you like me too."
