friend or an enemy?

We were absolutely cornered, more confused, frightened and feeling helpless.

We were as good as dead. Poor lambs awaiting slaughter!

JUST LOWER THE MIRROR HALFWAY AND HEAR WHAT HE HAS TO SAY. REMAINING UNRESPONSIVE WILL ONLY AGITATE HIM, AND GUESS WHAT HE MIGHT DO TO BOTH OF YOU, came an abrupt warning whisper from my naughty instinct!

My scalp prickled!

Taking my instinct's whisper into consideration, I found it worthwhile. Truthfully, I had no other viable alternative at the moment. So I decided to roll with it. Who knew what the man was capable of?

With my trembling arm, I navigated my shaky fingers over the right button and applied pressure on it. Holding the button down, the mirror slid down swiftly until it was just halfway after which I released it, and waited for the man to speak up. Ravaged with fear since I wasn't even sure what to expect next.

Via the edge of my eye, I glimpsed the man lower his head until his face availed before us between the half open window and then peeked inside. Instantly, my right ear stirred at the warmth emanating from his breath. But at least his breath was not smelly.

My throat tightened.

I was even very afraid of tilting my head to face directly at his face. Though I was instantly relieved when I lacked any signs of gun muzzle or some other precarious weaponry aimed inside at us. I darted my sight quickly at him and saw him swap his gaze from me to Liz and then back at me before i faced directly ahead again. As if he was judging us by our stricken facial appearance or reaction. I felt my starved belly ripple with fear at once, afraid that the same bolt of energy that had decimated the bee was also about to smoke us into ashes any time.

His face was smooth and clean-shaved, branding him not more than twenty five years old. Though unfortunately, his face was not as sweaty as ours.

"Hello there. Should I assume that you are Mr. David?" the man asked calmly, gazing through the windshield.

Oh my! Did he just call me Mr.?

That was absolutely spooky to me!

Does he know me?

Fear pulsed through me. Taking hold of me!

But luckily, I managed to swat it away. At least, both his tone and facial reaction did not appear as threatening like I had anticipated. And for the first time, I felt my heart start to cool down, a bit. But as much as I was very tempted to look and observe his face more, shockingly and out of unknown fear, I kept staring straight ahead like someone who had just been struck by lightening.

My lips trembled mildly before I answered him. Not daring to look his way.

"Y-yes p-please. That's m-my name" I stuttered sheepishly and swallowed hard. A thin sheet of translucent fluid twinkling on my entire face.

"Mm, I guessed it!" he responded but softly with a knowing smile and then grinned, dashing his sight upon petrified Liz "and who is this pretty lady by your side? She looks very pretty and super hot!"

Stop the nonsense stranger! I rumbled internally at his comment about Liz.

But then something more crossed my mind!

He had guessed it? What does that even mean? Was he expecting me?

Is he some kind of a plain-clothe police or someone I should be worried about?

My turned cold!

Biting my lips and trying hard to control my breathing, I clenched my face and tightened my grip on the wheel before I stuttered once more "she...she...umm...she is..is my co-worker. H-her name is Liz"
