Her belly cramped immediately after processing the question! She had no clue as to why that mattered, though it was driving an unknown terror to stab angrily at her heart!

Could I be missing something here?

Christine's lips trembled when a sudden jolt of fear struck her tired spine.

"N-no please. S-she c-came home wi-wi-..with nothing" She replied, not minding to enquire whether the city food could've been the cause for her daughter's scary condition.

Shortly after Christine finalized wearing the N-95 mask over he face, she saw the three men inside Alice's house exit carrying what she believed to be Alice's mattress. Christine was also certain that it was her daughter who was bundled over it and covered with the same kind of blankets she had been sleeping in.

Right away, anxiety gnawed at her, her face starting to turn pink with distress. Mists of tears could also be seen gathering around her aging eyes.

As the three men chauffeured Alice towards the van, a new wave of great urge overpowered her with renewed interest to check on her daughter's current condition. Immediately, Christine lurched forward but unfortunately, after just two steps, she stopped abruptly, shaking her head as if to gather bearings. Then she started to sway this way and that as if loosing balance while at the same time, her vision starting to blur.

Oh my....am I loosing my mind?

Heart jacking hammers in her chest with alarm, she raised her weakening arms and started slapping her forehead furiously hoping her foggy mind will reset back to optimum.

"Oh n-no! no! no! what the heck is happening to me!" she cried, glancing back to the man who had offered the mask to her and broke down with tears "w-what have you d-done to me? What have y-you done t-to me?"

The man in question did not appear at all bothered by her painful cries nor attempt to say something. He just stood there observing her from behind his tinted visor, like a troubled kitten.

Christine on receiving absolutely nothing from the said man; she decided to rip the poisoned mask off her face. Gathering all the little specks of energy she could siphon within herself, again, she initiated a second attempt to reach her daughter who was now being loaded into the van. Walking like a drunkard, she was unfortunate once again as she didn't even manage mere three steps forward. She started to feel overpowered and unable to propel her foot forward any further.

Shaking tremendously, she stopped and blinked about four times in order to clear the blur which was building over her eyes. But her effort was rendered useless since her vision continued to blur with extreme speed and intensity.

Feeble and feeling sight, energy and balance conspiring to betray her, Christine was very certain that her end was very close and there was nothing she could do to reverse it. She drooped rearward and felt her head becoming a bit heavier. She could hear every muscle in her body screaming loud cries of surrender, unable to pivot her any further.

Scrambling to maintain balance, she parted her legs as slow as she could manage in order to counter the fault but it was all in vain when her knees surrendered abruptly, letting her fall to the ground on her knees.

"W-what h-have they d-done t-to me? W-why do t-this t-to me? Have they done the same to my poor daughter too?" Christine cried in pain, tiny beads of tears dripping from her face down to the dusty ground. Fat blood veins blossomed over her sweaty face like gigantic serpents and her eyelids started feeling heavy.

Total darkness had finally camped before her eyes.

As her waist and every other part of her body cried with immense exhaustion and fatigue, Christine knew for sure that her time to depart the world had finally arrived.
