Meeting strange Joe

My stomach flipped right on, and a weird sense of uneasiness started crawling onto me!

Why am I feeling this way? Is he searching for the damn blue energy weapon or what now?

Have we angered him by not wearing the face masks to the extent that he was now about to enforce us? Or was there something else with the masks?

Joe swashed his sight upon us, "Hey David and Liz, what are you waiting for guys, put them on your faces quickly. It's for your own good, I assure you" he insisted, handing me another two bulky black plastic sachets. I regarded mine with great uncertainty for a short while before checking up on Liz to see whether she was in the same situation as me. A fatal move that I later came to regret!

To my shock and disappointment, I was extremely baffled on the spot the instant I noticed that hers was already over her face, secluding both her mouth and nose!

My eyes ballooned, and eyebrows waggled.

Feeling absolutely played by Liz, in a flash, I had already worn mine over my face and thereafter, handed her the second sachet. But this time, I did not waste any time. I started tearing the second sachet immediately and anxiously wanting to see what was inside.

After tearing it open, it's then that i finally realized that they were just a mere pair of clinical hand gloves! It was not something to be tensed about.

I felt some calm caress my skin, and i sighed with solace.

Without missing even a single beat, I started wearing them into my hands immediately. One after the other

Finalizing the task, I then smuggled a brief glance at Liz and noticed that she was too engrossed wearing hers.

At last, Joe leered at Liz immediately we completed the task. And frankly speaking, Joe had one of those rare handsome faces that would definitely make any lady to go berserk for!

I snapped my brows together right on.

Unable to withstand Joe's gaze, Liz stirred and blushed briefly before diverting her eyes quickly away from him. To my surprise, Joe simpered at her!

Heck! That was too irritating for me to watch live! I had to make it stop before it drifted too far!

I frowned at him, glaring daggers at him!

In response, he just chortled before wearing a pretense mask as if it was nothing.

"Excellent! You people even look even great having those masks on your faces!" Joe beamed, before his face appeared to flinch with uncertainty "now guys, am I allowed riding with you?"

My skin prickled instantly at his last words! Forgetting that I was even glaring at him.

What the heck?

"Huh?" I heard Liz cough absently beside me in surprise. Not wanting to look Joe's direction.

Seriously? How on Earth are we going to allow a total stranger like him ride with us?

No, I had to object without minding what he'll do thereafter.

"J-Joe, t-thank you for everything, b-but as you see, we were o-on our way across the city a-a-and am afraid w-we and you might not be h-heading t-to the s-same direction" I stuttered in opposition and kind of nervously.

Joe snickered restlessly and impatiently, "now, now, now David, that's where am damn sure that you'll absolutely be making one very grave mistake. And I assure you that you'll never gonna make it through all by yourselves" he paused, concern glistening on his face and took some time smearing his sight over the surrounding towers before continuing again, "do you think that it is actually a coincidence that all these buildings, plus the streets happens to be absolutely this empty just like that? Huh? Totally deserted and no one seems to be moving around David?" he paused and sighed, "As I said earlier, my assistance will be of great importance to both of you hence forth if you two wish to be alive and breathing tomorrow. And that's the chief reason I beseech you to stop wasting more time and let me in right away please"
