Screams filled the elevator as it plummeted miles and miles underground. Wren covered her ears, her eyes shut tight as Robin held her close with one arm, the other clinging desperately to the shelf in the wall.
"We're going down!" Steve yelled. "We're going down!"
"Yeah, no shit, Harrington!" Robin shouted.
"It's like the Titanic, but way worse!" Wren cried.
"Why don't these buttons work?!" Dustin shrieked, pounding on the control panel.
The elevator crashed on the bottom. Wren screamed as she toppled over from the impact, landing on top of Robin, who still had a protective arm around her.
"Shit." Wren gasped, her heart pounding in her chest.
"My groin." Steve groaned when a box fell on him. "It fell on my groin. Dustin! Get this off of me!"
Dustin went over to Steve and lifted the box off of him. Wren sat back against the wall, quickly wiping away her tears of terror. She pressed two fingers behind her ear to check her pulse, making sure that she was still alive.
"Is everyone okay?" Robin asked.
"Yeah, I'm great now that I know Russians can't design elevators!" Steve yelled, making Wren jump. He shoved Dustin out of the way to get to the control panel.
"I think we've clearly established that those buttons don't work," Robin said as she helped Wren up from the floor.
"They're buttons! They have to do something."
"Yeah, if we had a keycard." Wren pointed to the keycard reader on the wall.
"A what?" Steve frowned.
"It's an electronic lock, dumbass. It's the same one that's on the loading dock door. If we don't have a keycard, it won't operate, which means—"
"We're stuck in here," Dustin interrupted Wren, who nodded.
Wren turned back to Steve and crossed her arms. "I hope you're aware that Nancy is gonna slit your throat when she finds out you're responsible for this. She made you swear you wouldn't let anything bad happen to me this summer."
"Yeah, well guess what?" Steve scoffed, leaning over so that he was closer to her height. "Nancy's not gonna be able to find us if we're dead inside a Russian elevator!"
"Hey," Dustin said, pointing up at the ceiling. "What if we climbed out?"
He and Steve went up on top of the elevator to see if there was a way that they could climb out. Unfortunately, they were stuck.

Wren was awoken by the smell of piss.
"Mike," she groaned, keeping her eyes shut as she nuzzled into her blanket. "What have I told you about messing around in Kiwi's litter box? It's not funny."
"Can you redirect your stream, please?" Robin's annoyed voice hit her ears. She groggily opened her eyes. Robin walked over to her as she slowly sat up. She reached for her glasses and put them on, realizing that what she thought was her blanket was Robin's jacket.
"Not a dream?" Wren asked, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
"I'm afraid not," Robin replied, smiling sadly. Just as she was getting ready to ask how Wren was doing, she was distracted by an electronic whirring in the distance. She went over to the door and pressed her ear against it. As it got closer, she turned to Wren, motioning and mouthing for her to climb up to the top of the elevator where the boys were.
